Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Award Winners 
A team of dedicated SMC Health staff are being recognized for outstanding work! The SMC Health Government Alliance on Race and Equity (Health GARE) team received a County STARS Award. The award recognizes programs that contribute to a culture of innovation. Health GARE has worked to: 
  1. Normalize discussions about racial inequities to develop a shared understanding; 
  2. Organize efforts to advance racial equity; and 
  3. Operationalize strategies, policies, and procedures to increase


San Mateo County’s Growing Need for Childcare 
The San Mateo County 2022 Child Care and Early Learning Needs Assessment was recently released. The report showcases data and highlights challenges including: 
  • Unaffordable childcare
  • Shortage of childcare spaces including subsidized
