The I Seminar "Internet Governance" was held last August 17th. 

The event sought to foster scientific discussions and give support to public policies and business actions in the Internet Governance context.

The debate between the guest speakers and the public aimed to deepen the reflections about the theme in the Brazilian and international contexts.

I. Congress "Digital Circuit: Update and Law and Technology View"

On August 17th, by the invitation of the Science and Technology Committee of the Brazilian Bar Association, State of São Paulo Chapter (OAB/SP), CEST was represented in the Congress by its academic coordinator Prof. Edison Spina PhD, who lectured about the theme "Privacy in the Connected World".

II. São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Smart Cities

Organized by the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of São Paulo  (IME- USP) and sponsored by São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) the event "São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Smart Cities" (SPSAS) was held in São Paulo, from July 24th to August 4th. 

The event gathered world specialists of different fields like Mobile Networks, Internet of Things, Sustainability, Innovation, Privacy, Big Data, among others.

With over 100 hours of courses, lectures and debates, CEST was represented by its member Marvin Ferreira who presented to 150 researchers from 11 countries the possibility of partnerships and collaborative work with CEST . 

I. APPedestre Application

During The Developers Conference event held in the end of July, a group of students from the University of São Paulo (USP), among them CEST's researcher Carolina Abílio, created the app prototype "APPedrestre" with the objective of identifying and indicating obstacles on the city sidewalks and to accordingly feed the City Hall data bases relating to these problems.

II. Civic Lab Meeting at ETEC Cepam

The Civic Lab at ETEC Cepam aims to be a space for the participation of entrepreneurs, developers, designers, students and other volunteers to create some technology that improves public services.

Every Wednesday, anyone will be able to contribute their personal experience, learn about social problems, create a solution and gain visibility into their results.

It has been published the bulletin "The Importance of Multistakeholderism in Internet Governance" authored by Nathalia Sautchuk Patrício, Computer Engineering PhD student at Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, CEST's researcher and responsible for conducting the Internet Governance Seminar.

The text deepens the reflections on the multistakeholder model that has been adopted as the preferred form of governance by the Internet community.
