There is never a bad time to get inspiration, learn new skills or meet new people with the same interests. You can do this in many ways. Woodturning is a growing field. There lots of clubs across the country, new regional symposiums popping up all the time and my favorite - lots of great opportunities to do hands-on workshops. Speaking of workshops, we have recently upgraded to newer Robust lathes as well as updated our tool inventory and remodeled the shop. There are a few spaces left in my fall workshops and I enjoy sharing my knowledge of woodturning with others. Hope to see you in a workshop soon.

Happy Turning,
Trent
We had a great AAW Sympoisum in Atlanta this year. We would like to thank everyone who stopped by. Look forward to seeing you next year in Kansas City.  If you missed us, we will be at the Rocky Mountain Woodturners Symposium September 16-18 in Colorado.

I have recently been reorganizing my shop and I have been paying a lot of attention to the flow of my workspace. I used to spend way too much time looking for tools, walking half way across the shop for a tool, bending over to grab something, etc. So my tip for you would be make a pile of all the tools that you use continually and then design a space right around your lathe where you have easy access to all those essential tools. That way everything is within a short reach and has a place. You will be amazed at how much more productive you become with your precious shop time.

Looking for a new lathe? Robust is a top of the line lathe. A huge bonus is that it is made in America by people who know what they are doing. I am proud to be a distributor for Robust. Should you be interested don't hesitate to contact me.

This months Artist of the Month is Ric Romano. I have had Ric in many workshops. His skill as a turner and carver has continually evolved over this time and he is creating some really interesting work. The thing that I enjoy about Ric and his work is that he is willing to try just about anything and realizes if you don't try you won't succeed. Please check out his website: www.ricromano.com

From the Artist:
"I am inspired by Southwest Native American Ollas (Jars), as well as many things in nature. I enjoy exploring new mediums to use on my woodturnings, including airbrushing, carving, auto pin striping paint, just to mention a few."

I have taken 4 (at least) of Trent’s workshops over the years. Each time I take a workshop I leave with something new, even if I am just brushing up on basic techniques that I haven't used for awhile. I always end up with more motivation and direction to pursue what I’m after and where I want to go! Im sure I will be attending more in the future!
