Friends,

This week I would like to simply remind you of just one thing:
You are known by God. You are loved by God.
May this love give you hope and confidence this weekend.

Congratulations to Freda and Len Murfin who are celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary! Blessings and love to you both!
With great excitement - we would like EVERYONE to join us for a movie night outside! LION is based on the true story of Saroo Brierley who, at the age of 5, was separated from his family in India as he fell asleep on a train and woke up 1600 kilometers away from home.  Twenty-five years later, armed with only a handful of memories and unwavering determination he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home.

You bring the chairs and cozy blankets, we provide the movie and outdoor heaters! We have arranged for a very special dinner - There will be a food truck serving Syrian specialties (the best Shawarma) from 5:30 onward for those wanting to buy dinner before the movie. There will be popcorn and hot chocolate for sale at the concession! Bring a friend or neighbour to keep you warm!
Imagine packing up and leaving behind everything familiar to start a new life in a new country with a new language. New Canadian Kid follows Nick, a young boy from Homeland, as he navigates a new school, tries to forge new friendships, and become fluent with the customs of Canada. Starring Woodcliff United Church youth and children! Tickets will be available for purchase in the narthex starting this Sunday and during the week from the office. New Canadian Kid is appropriate for all ages and runs approximately 40 minutes, each of the two performances will be unique with special musical guests adding to the entertainment. Invite friends and family for this special event celebrating the work of Outreach and Global Festival.
Only two spots left to join Freda for a day of fun and learning. Freda will be guiding the group through six hours of stitching. Lunch will be provided! Contact the office or sign up in the Narthex soon to reserve a remaining spot!
Please make plans to join Outreach for a trip to Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park on Saturday October 5. We will meet in the Woodcliff parking lot to carpool and leave promptly at 8:45 am.  There will be special programming for children. Friends and family are welcome! We need 25 participants to make this event happen. Please sign up in the Narthex.
Plans are underway for a great year!
Sheri and Nicole are gearing up for our Church school season,
Registration is ongoing and  forms can be filled out both this Sunday and next. Forms need to be updated annually, so please complete a new one so we can keep our records up to date. If you have any questions about the Children's program at Woodcliff Please contact Sheri. If you have any questions about the youth program, please contact Nicole. We look forward to welcoming you for the first time, the first time in a long time or again after our summer adventures.

THREE FEATHERS SCREENING
Date: Sunday September 29 at 12:00 pm
Location: St Thomas United Church, 100 Hawkwood Blvd NW
St. Thomas United Church invites you to a screening of a 45 minute film called Three Feathers, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Richard Van Camp. When harm is done, justice must heal. After committing a crime that devastated the innocence of their small community, three young men are sent to live on the land for nine months to explore the power of restorative justice. The Elders they live with reconnect them to a life that was taken from them long ago, but it is up to the boys to acquire the humility needed to return home and face their past. This event is free though, donations towards expenses would be appreciated.

GIFTS THAT CHANGE LIVES!

We give thanks for over eight years of giving through the Gifts with Vision catalogue. Every gift is developed by one of our Mission & Service partners and each one truly makes a difference! As we look forward to the new Gifts with Vision catalogue, let us hear some of the amazing things that have been accomplished thanks to your giving through Gifts with Vision.

You have made so many good things possible through your gifts: clean water projects in Congo, Nicaragua, and Zambia; summer camp experiences for more than 200 children across Canada; education and safe spaces for children around the world; food for people who are homeless in Canada; grocery gift cards and warm clothing for remote Indigenous communities; food, shelter, and education for displaced persons in Kenya, the Philippines, Colombia, and Jordan; Indigenous cultural renewal here in Canada; a culture of peace in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East; and projects in reconciliation and Indigenous reclaiming of language and traditions--just to name a few!

Your generous support for Mission & Service means that Mission & Service partners receive core funding for their programs. Your gifts through Gifts with Visionprovide additional support for Mission & Service partners and ministries for selected projects.

Without Mission & Service, Gifts with Vision projects would not be possible. Through your support of Mission & Service and Gifts with Vision, you provide so much hope, both here in Canada and across the world.

If Mission & Service giving is already a regular part of your life, thank you so much! If you have not given, please join me in making Mission & Service giving a regular part of your life of faith. Loving our neighbour is at the heart of our Mission & Service.
