"Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and mother figures out there!  You're a blessing to those who know you. As I was reflecting on Mother's Day I thought of the biblical story of Lydia.

Paul encountered Lydia during his Mediterranean tour of evangelism. There are three qualities she displayed that are iconic traits of motherhood.

1) Mother's have open hearts: A mother's love is like no other. The story of Lydia in Acts reminds us that a mother's heart is open to all who she comes into contact with. The adage goes that "no one could love a child like their mom." That is certainly true- there is nothing like a mother's love. Lydia's story reminds us of this.
2) Mother's as pioneers: Lydia was one of the fist female converts to Christianity who led a church! Something that is still not common in certain denominations. Mother's are there at the forefront, ensuring their loved ones can have the most awesome birthday parties, meals, and life experiences. Mom's are pioneers.
3) Hospitality: I am always well fed when at my mom's or any of my adoptive mom's places. Hospitality is key in ensuring folks feel welcome and acknowledged. Lydia surely knew this as she invited Paul and his companion to stay with her during their stay in the city. Mother's excel at hospitality.

A mother's love is all of the above and more. I pray that the motherly love of God embraces you and yours on this day.

Peace,
Rev. Eric

Worship video - May 10
In every season of life there are things that can be learned. With some things you hear I am sure you can add an 'Amen'and for others a 'not applicable'. If we believe that God uses all things in our lives to teach us, then what is He trying to teach us from this?

What commandment is the most difficult to follow? Why?

If you could write an eleventh commandment, what would it be? Why?

While it is not the same as physically being together, God has shown us that the church is so much more than a building on a corner.  It is the people of God, praying for one another, gathering through technology, and reflecting the presence of Jesus in our communities. The work of the congregation continues and your offerings and givings help us do the work of the church. You may make an online offering on our website or you may call the office for other options including automatic withdrawals or mailed givings. Thank you for your support in this time and always.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21
