Hello friends,
This Sunday marks the 2nd Sunday in our “Gospel According to Munsch” series. We will be reflecting on the book “Purple, Green and Yellow”.
I have many memories of me spending afternoons at my grandma’s place. Not only did she keep an ample cookie collection, but also had countless colouring books for us to draw in. She only had 1 rule. It was if we started colouring a picture, we had to finish colouring it before we moved onto another page.
I loved colouring familiar scenes. Such as scenes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Spiderman’s latest adventure. What I liked most about these is that you could colour them as close to the “original” as you wanted; or you could go with something completely out of left field. The artistic license was up to you. There was something wonderfully freeing about it. You could have green turtles or you could have some mish mash of blue orange green yellow and brown… It was up to you! Colouring let me to make the world come alive, I could use artistic license to change the world how I felt it could be. (Still waiting on that call from Marvel to sign me as an illustrator…)
This Sunday we will hear about what having a “Colourful Faith” means and how we have opportunities to animate the communities we live in, in partnership with God.
Hope to see you there,
Rev. Eric
What a wonderful Welcome Back BBQ! Thank you to the Congregational Life Committee and all the volunteers who helped with set up, tear down, preparations, and cooking. Your hard work is so appreciated. Thank you!
Congratulations to Louzan Zidan on passing her Citizenship Exam this week!
Next week will be adding a feature to the Messenger listing those who are serving on Sundays at Woodcliff. The list will include the names serving on hospitality, count, reading, candle lighting, media and children's ministry. Names will be listed using first names and last initial only. If you do not wish to have your name included, please connect with the office. Thank you!
Everyone is welcome to join Sheri and Nicole as they share the vision and program goals for Children and Youth Ministries for the upcoming year. There will be an overview of the curriculum, information on how our congregation can offer volunteer support, and opportunity for feedback. Childcare is provided. This Lunch and Learn is sponsored by Christian Development and will take place in the Sanctuary after worship.
Please make plans to join Outreach for a trip to Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park on Saturday October 5. The drive to Blackfoot Crossing is approximately 1 hour and we will carpool from Woodcliff. Cost is still to be determined. There will be special programming for children. Friends and family are welcome! We need 25 participants to make this event happen. Please sign up in the Narthex.
Plans are underway for a great year!

Our gifts for Mission & Service support programs for children and families living in community housing areas like Ardglen in Brampton, Ontario.

The Journey Neighbourhood Centre looks like every other store in the strip mall where it is located, but once you enter, you encounter a different world—one filled with art, laughing children, enthusiastic volunteers, and interns from the Social Work program at Ryerson University. One of these interns is Maria, who came to Toronto as a teen from Colombia to live with her father.

“At first, I didn’t like it here,” says Maria, sitting at the table preparing snacks for the children who would be arriving from school to participate in the KidZone program. “Over time I have come to really love this country, and I wanted to do something to make a difference in the world. That is why I chose social work.” Maria and the other interns speak passionately about the centre and the children who come through the door. “They are just wonderful!” Maria exclaims.

Your gifts offer children and families in community housing a place to come to share in food and fun.

If Mission & Service giving is already a regular part of your life, thank you so much! If you have not given, please join me in making Mission & Service giving a regular part of your life of faith. Loving our neighbour is at the heart of our Mission & Service.
