Hello faith community,
Under the faithful guidance of our Duty of Care team as well as recommendations from the Chinook Winds Region and The United Church Canada, the staff have developed a plan regarding coronavirus (COVID-19). Out of an abundance of caution and care for the well being for all who gather here, we would like to share the following with you:
The United Church’s mission will guide us to do what is right:
To love one another as Christ loved us, to provide hope and compassion, to take action and respond to community need.
Don’t panic but take precautionary measures:
Please do not come to church if you are feeling ill of it you have a fever, cough & shortness of breath.
Thoroughly wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer only if soap and water is not available.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
Cough and sneeze into your sleeve and not into your hands.
Additional cleaning protocol has been put in place in our church, including regularly wiping down commonly used areas like door handles, railings and switches.
Some temporary changes you might notice in our Sunday services:
Door greeters have been instructed to not shake hands or give hugs, but rather a warm verbal greeting to minimize person-to-person contact.
Bulletins will be available on the table in the Narthex and will not be given by hand.
Passing of the Peace will be adapted to replace handshakes or hugs with non-physical touch greetings. Namaste, words of greeting and elbow taps are welcome!
Offering will be collected before and after the service in the form of a drop box available at the entrance to the sanctuary.
Communion will be suspended until further notice.
Coffee service will be provided by baristas and served in single-use, compostable cups.
Food service will be done on individual compostable plates or through the barista style service.
We are implementing these changes in the best interest of the collective health of everyone who interacts at Woodcliff United Church.
If for any reason you are self isolating or ill, please let the office know. We are setting up and updating supports for you and can offer you more information as it becomes available.
