Metro Manila cities learn about SWM and DRRM during study tour
ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability Southeast Asia Secretariat (ICLEI SEAS) in partnership with the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) organized a peer-to-peer learning experience participated by the three Ambitious City Promises* project cities of Pasig, Marikina, and Parañaque (all located in Metro Manila), and hosted by the local governments of Cauayan, Ilagan, and Santiago of Isabela Province in northern Philippines.

Indonesia and Lao cities exchange insights on low emission development strategies
Model cities Kaysone Phomvihane and Pakse in Lao PDR visited two cities and one regency in Indonesia from April 21 to 28 and witnessed how urban low emission development strategies are implemented by different stakeholders including the local government, communities, and the private sector. The local governments visited were all project cities of the Urban-LEDS project.

ICLEI SEAS supports GHG management planning of Zamboanga and Tagbilaran

Zamboanga City and Tagbilaran City, in coordination with ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability Southeast Asia Secretariat (ICLEI SEAS), organized a capacity building workshop on  27 May and 4 June respectively, which aimed to assist both cities in developing their Greenhouse Gas Management Plans.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)- Philippines in partnership with ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability Southeast Asia Secretariat kicked-off this year’s One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) in an updating workshop held last June 4, 2019 at Linden Suites, Pasig City.

DKI Jakarta shares ambitious climate target during U20 Mayors’ Summit 2019

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan shared the city’s target to curb greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 during the Urban 20 (U20) 1 Mayors’ Summit held 21 May 2019. The U20 Mayors’ Summit was organized in synchrony with the Urban Resilience Forum (Tokyo) (URF) which also took place in Tokyo from 21-22 May.

SEA cities share insights on urban resilience in international confab

City representatives from Southeast Asia actively participated in the recently concluded 4th Resilient Cities Asia Pacific (RCAP) Congress which took place in New Delhi, India from 15-17 April 2019. The event brought together over 200 participants from 70 cities and 25 countries to discuss urban resilience, low emission development, participatory governance, green infrastructure, and other related topics over eight plenary sessions and seven parallel sessions.

DKI Jakarta showcases public transport, climate village to other IDN cities and regencies

Around 30 participants representing local governments across Indonesia took part in a mobile workshop on public transportation services and citizen engagement last 13 April 2019. The event aimed to showcase the best practices supporting DKI Jakarta’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction agenda. The event also aimed to inspire other local government participants to build and plan cities and regencies that are sustainable and responsive to climate change.
