ICLEI SEAS conducts training-workshop for Compact-committed cities in the Philippines

ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability for Southeast Asia Secretariat (ICLEI-SEAS) has succesfully conducted a training-workshop titled "Is Your City Compact-Compliant?" last December 05-08, 2016 at the Discovery Suites, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. A total of 77 participants representing 25 local government units attended the training which focused on helping cities committed to the Compact of Mayors identify strategies to reach compact compliance based on identified milestones for adaptation and mitigation. ICLEI SEAS and the Emergent Ventures International Pte. Ltd. (EVI) facilitated the conduct of two consultation workshops for the development of the Philippines' National Climate Change Mitigation Framework Strategy (NCCMFS). The proposed framework aims to develop a comprehensive set of mitigation strategies to face climate change impacts and to transition toward a competitive, sustainable, and cleaner development path. Read more.

Nexus cities learn about China's solid waste management practices

Selected representatives of South and Southeast Asian pilot cities of the Integrated Resource Management in Asian Cities: The Urban Nexus participated in the Solid Waste Management site visit in China held last 14-18 November 2016. During the visit, the delegation met with experts and learned about municipal solid waste management practices implemented in China. Read more.

Civil society groups engage with climate scientists at the SEACLIC/CORDEX workshop

The Southeast Asia Regional Climate Downscaling (SEACLID)/COordinated Regional Climate Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX) Southeast Asia project organized its 4th annual workshop from November 24-25 at the University of Science of Vietnam National University (VNU) in Hanoi, Vietnam. Civil society organizations (CSOs) participated in the workshop through the Asia Climate Change Consortium (ACCC). Read more.

Community-based urban gardens officially turned over to informal sector in Quezon City
Community-based urban gardens located in Sitio Asprer, Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Quezon City were officially turned over to key community stakeholders marking the culmination of the Misereor project. Read more. 
ICLEI SEAS partnered with Cagayan de Oro's City Local Government and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) to organize a session presented during the 3rd International River Summit held in Cagayan de Oro from November 24 to 26, 2016. With the theme, "Healthy Watersheds, Clean Rivers, and Safer Communities", the session employed a Reality Check Workshop format, tapping presentations from local actors directly involved in river basin management. Engagement Global: Reciprocal Visit
January 2017 | Lubang and Dumangas, Philippines

Municipalities of Ebhausen and Herdecke from Germany will conduct a reciprocal visit to the Philippine municipalities of Lubang and Dumangas on January 2017. The visit aims to create a joint program of action in terms of climate change mitigation and adaptation. 

Institute for Global Environment Strategies (IGES) Workshop
1-2 February 2017 | Manila, Philippines

The third workshop with the theme, “Toward mainstreaming of climate change adaptation” to be held on February 01-02, 2017 in Manila, Philippines will build on the results from the two previous workshops. The objective of this event is to understand and identify key aspects for mainstreaming CCA and the necessary CCA background assessments into existing national and subnational planning processes.
