The books we can't stop talking about!

Oona Out of Order
by Margarita Montimore

A brilliant, unique premise allows Oona to avoid a decision she doesn't want to make. But is it worth the consequence? Oona Out of Order is the kind of novel that forces you to reflect on your own life and how much you may be ignoring the present when it's happening right in front of you. I love how this novel weaved the main character's life into something so perfectly disordered. A truly fun story that will hook you from the beginning, middle, and back again.   — Becky

If We Were Giants
by Dave Matthews
and Clete Barrett Smith

Ages 8 - 12

Put down the guitar, Dave! Dave Matthews proves he is a master storyteller with this fantasy tale that examines the issues that arise when a band of conquering giants try to invade a peaceful society. I liked the wonderful characters, lush imagery, and big themes, and I hope he will find time to write a sequel! — Jamie

"There is something poetic in the way Mitchell Jackson writes. It feels musical. All that and with a fascinating, original format including memoir, history, and essays, Mitchell’s book, Survival Math introduces us to Jackson’s circle of family and friends.

This conversation reminded me that, as a white person, we too have to be actively anti-racist, not merely that we see ourselves as not racist. Mitchell introduces you to a world you might not know, in a way that makes you understand other lives more profoundly.... hearing his story you cannot help be charmed, impressed, and grateful."   — Roxanne
