CHLI Congratulates Dean Alexander Acosta on his nomination as
U.S. Department of Labor Secretary
Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) congratulates Dean Alexander Acosta on being named President Donald J. Trump's nominee for the Department of Labor Secretary. Alexander Acosta is the Dean of the Florida International University’s (FIU) College of Law and is a long-time friend and supporter of CHLI. Dean Acosta was a contributor at CHLI’s 5th Annual Trade & International Affairs Symposium in 2015, and accepted the CHLI Maestro Award, on behalf of FIU, at CHLI’s 11th Annual Gala & Leadership Awards.

“The President has made a very wise decision in appointing FIU Law School Dean, former U.S. Attorney, Alex Acosta as our nation’s Secretary of Labor,” said CHLI Chairman, The Honorable Lincoln Diaz-Balart. “Alex Acosta is an admirable public servant of brilliance and character, and of impeccable reputation. He makes our entire community proud,” Diaz-Balart continued.

Dean Acosta has been a fervent contributor to the Hispanic community throughout his years of service, and CHLI is confident that he will make an excellent Secretary of Labor for all Americans.
