CHLI congratulates Alexander Acosta on his confirmation as
U.S. Department of Labor Secretary

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) is pleased to announce that the new U.S. Department of Labor Secretary, Alexander Acosta, was confirmed by a Senate majority on Thursday, April 27, 2017. CHLI is proud of the relationship between Secretary Acosta and the organization, as he was a participant at CHLI’s 5th Annual Trade & International Affairs Symposium in 2015 and he, along with the provost, accepted the CHLI Maestro Award to Florida International University, at CHLI’s 11th Annual Gala & Leadership Awards.
"With our new Secretary of Labor, Alex Acosta, the President and I are confident that we will accomplish even more for working Americans and job creators all across this nation," Vice-President, Michael Richard Pence, commending Secretary Acosta. "Alex Acosta is the right man at the right time to lead the Department of Labor," he continued.
The President & CEO of CHLI, Mary Ann Gomez Orta, and Director of Programs & External Affairs, Nina Roque, had the honor of attending the swearing-in ceremony for the new Secretary of Labor. Secretary Acosta, a Cuban-American, has done significant work for the Latino community throughout his career, and we look forward to seeing more of his great accomplishments as President Donald J. Trump’s head of the U.S. Department of Labor.

"Alex Acosta has always made our entire community proud. He is brilliant, and of extraordinary integrity. I know he will make the entire nation proud as United States Secretary of Labor", said CHLI Chairman Lincoln Diaz-Balart.
