GPC "First Friday" Newsletter – July 2021

Dear praying friends around the world!

Recently, I have been deeply touched by Psalm 86. It is a psalm of David. David, with a soft and broken heart! Crying out for the mercy of God! As the Lord is comforting him and lifting his spirit, he realizes the greatnes of God by confessing the mercies of God for the nations: „Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.“ How wonderful! How powerful! We may be comforted personally as we are made aware of His mercies for the nations! I share more about this in the First Friday Clip of this month of July 2021.

Looking back on the GPC prayer call June 5-6, 2021

The last Prayer Call from June 5-6 2021, around Jerusalem-Day (Gregorian calendar), was a huge encouragement! The first and the last slot of two hours within the 26-hour call centered around Jerusalem. The first two hours focused on the input of messianic leaders Benjamin Berger and Sandra Treplinski as well as the prophetic orientation given by Rick Ridings from „Succat Hallel“ (with the Temple Mount being the center of attention) and Arab-Christian leader, … , sharing about her vision of a „love revolution“ between Jews and Arabs and beyond. The last two hours where filled by testimonies about what the Spirit of the Lord did amongst us as we prayed for different nations, continents and world regions in relation to their relationships to Israel during the 22 hours of prayer around the world. So powerful! So deep and inspirational!

Both sessions can be seen on our GPC YouTube channel:

First session – June 5:
Last session – June 6:

The unity and flow within the sessions and between the session-leaders, including the Israeli leaders, was so amazing! You will be touched and changed as you watch!

Praying for the Israeli government

On June 13th, Israel's 36th government was sworn in, with Naftali Bennett, leader of the national religious party “Yamina” (Right/Proper), as prime minister. Yair Lapid, chairman of the left-wing liberal party “Yesh Atid” (There is a Future), is due to take over the office of prime minister in September 2023. With 27 ministers, Israel's new government unites a spectrum of parties from the centrist party “Blue-White” to the secular national party “Israel Beitenu”, from the conservative national party “Tikva Hadasha” to the left-wing party “Meretz” and the Arab-Islamist “Ra'am” party. The coalition was formed primarily from the joint desire and goal to replace incumbent Benjamin Netanyahu after 12 years as prime minister. As Christians, we support the new Israeli government as we did the previous one.

Domestically, the new government wants to lead and unite the Israeli society which is currently divided along political, religious and ethnic lines. In terms of foreign policy, the Iranian nuclear program is Israel's greatest threat, especially after the election of the political-religious extremist Ebrahim Raisi as the new president of Iran. The recent Hamas rocket assault on Israel had also been planned as a long-term strategy by Iran in order to set up yet another terrorist front against Israel. A few days after Bennett's inauguration, fire-balloons were launched from Gaza, whereupon the Israeli Air Force again bombed Hamas positions.

  • That the diversity of political parties in the new Israeli government will be a source of healing and reconciliation within Israeli society. (2 Corinthians 5:18-21)
  • For further peace treaties with neighboring Arab countries which will contribute towards an end to the terrorism and war-mongering of Hamas and Iran against the State of Israel and bring reconciliation with Israel in the Middle East region. (Isaiah 19:23-25)
  • That the nations will no longer support the plans of the enemies of Israel: neither the nuclear agreement with Iran, nor the United Nations aid agency for Palestinian refugees UNRWA and the unconditional funding for reconstruction in Gaza, where the money ends up in the hands of Hamas. (Genesis 12:3)

4th embassy - the embassy of Honduras - opened in Jerusalem

What a fantastic day we had in Jerusalem!

The President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, and First Lady Ana Garcia Carías de Hernández opened the Honduran Embassy in Jerusalem. President Hernández arrived in Israel with a delegation of 20 pastors who brought with them tens of thousands of signatures of Christians who love Israel.

Our JPB co-chair, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, met with the President and First Lady in Washington DC and sowed the initial seed to move the embassy to Jerusalem a few years ago. She explained to them the Biblical covenant reasons for blessings for Honduras and the curses on the country. As the Bible says, some plant, some water, and some harvest.

Answer to prayer for EU concerning Palestinian school books!

Brussels, June 24th, 2021 – After almost two decades of denial and neglect, the European Commission is gradually accepting responsibility for its role in funding Palestinian education that fuels antisemitism.

The admission comes after many years of campaigning by various groups, including the European Coalition for Israel, for a policy of zero tolerance towards hate education concealed in Palestinian textbooks. Before leaving office in 2019, then EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, instituted an inquiry into the use of Palestinian school textbooks to incite hatred and engender antisemitism.  It was a dramatic turning point: during her five-year term as the highest EU-official responsible for foreign policy, including EU policy towards the Middle East, she had consistently denied there was a problem!

The inquiry was completed in February of this year although it seems as if the European Commission tried to conceal it.  Only after pressure from the European Parliament was the Report finally released to the public.  At last the truth was exposed; the 200-page Report confirms that Palestinian Authority textbooks encourage violence against Israelis and conceal antisemitic messages. All of which made it inevitable that Members of the European Parliament and senior EU-officials would rush to issue hurried condemnations. In a statement on June 9 European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, promised to “take action if European money is used to call into question Israel’s right to exist.”  Then, on Monday 21 June, EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi (picture), went one step further, calling for a firm commitment to fight antisemitism and promote Palestinian education which fully adheres to UNESCO standards for peace, tolerance and co-existence. In a follow up tweet he added that “the conditionality of our aid to Palestinian education needs to be duly considered.” He joins a long list of international leaders who have condemned Palestinian hate education, among them US Foreign Secretary Antony Blinken.

Prayer for GPC

Praise the Lord with us for His grace and anointing on the June/Jerusalem Call a few weeks back. Now we are seeking the Lord for a next call in the context of the Jewish fall feasts. Please pray for us as we seek the Lord for His revelation, discernment and wisdom. May the Lord bless you all as you bless Israel and pray for your nations vis-a-vis Israel!
