                        WHY LUNCH BREAKS ARE IMPORTANT

Everyone’s gotta eat and if you’re like me—with a crazy, busy schedule, you probably eat lunch at your desk on most days.

While the habit of working through lunch, eating at the desk and skipping lunch can’t always be helped, a weekly or monthly catered lunch can go a long way towards boosting morale. It’s good for employees AND good for the company. And THAT'S why they call it a lunch BREAK!

Burnout
Working through lunch breaks can leave employees feeling overwhelmed, which reduces their motivation to work. Burnout is one of the reasons your employees need to step away from the desk at lunchtime. Employees who work without a break may not feel the effects for some time. But, over time, burnout can settle in and employee productivity can drop significantly.

Work Quality
Working through a lunch break can make the day seem longer. A lunch break spent away from the desk gives employees time to relax and refocus their efforts on being productive in the afternoon. If an employee works through the lunch break, they might not be able to relax and stress levels could remain high. By the middle of the afternoon, fatigue can set in and affect the employee's performance for the rest of the day.

Health
Skipping lunch, or grabbing a quick snack at your desk during lunchtime, can lead to medical issues in the long-term. Not allowing enough time for lunch means not eating a proper meal, and that can cause weight gain. A quick snack at the desk doesn’t take the place of a proper lunch. Working through lunch creates stress, and trying to eat during a stressful situation can create digestive problems. Getting away from the desk also allows the employee to stretch, reducing the chances of joint and back pain.

Social Value
A lunch break away from the office with co-workers gives employees a chance to bond as a team. The social value of getting away from the desk during a lunch break can help improve employee morale.

Innovative Corporate Catering Services

In order to maintain energy, people need to consume good, balanced, nutritious meals. Without sufficient calorie intake, the body does not fully function and loses energy.

Because lunch is in the middle of the day, eating a larger and more nourishing meal for lunch can help the body stay energized throughout the day.

Let Innovative Gourmet craft a delicious meal for your next corporate luncheon.

People are ALWAYS asking me what restaurants I recommend--what's a great wine--what's your favorite cheese-- lots 'o foodie related questions.

Sooo-here's my the Foodie #411.

This month-I'm spotlighting Tagliata in Harbor East.

Enjoy!

This Italian chophouse offers an elegant Tuscan, farmhouse- feel and they have a fantastic alley patio for al fresco dining.

Sommelier David Goodman can expertly pair your meal with the perfect wine to compliment your menu selections and my favorite bartender - AJ- is terrific!

The happy hour offers an array of excellent dishes for only $8. Lately, I've been feeling the Bourbon Smash-yum.

I've been back 6 times, and I have the same thing every time because it's THAT good. You MUST try the Polpetti Meatballs--classic Tagliata meatballs, with tomato sauce, whipped ricotta and basil.

One of my favorite things is when they bring the bread. Seriously, the server brings the bread along with a humongous wheel of parmesan cheese and chops off a fresh hunk for you. #heaven. I could eat JUST the bread and cheese and be very happy. Along with the bourbon smash, of course.

I'm totally obsessed! You will be too.

              WATERMELON MARGARITAS on the ROCKS

Nothing says summer like a freshly cut slice of watermelon.

This colorful cocktail on the rocks isn’t just made with watermelon juice – it also includes a simple syrup from seedless melon and sugar so that the bright, unmistakable flavor is in every sip of the drink. Combine the watermelon juice and watermelon simple syrup with your favorite tequila, some fresh lime juice, and ice, and shake until your summer sipper is perfectly chilled!
  • For the watermelon simple syrup:
  • 2 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • For the watermelon juice:
  • 2 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
  • 1/2 cup water
  • For the margarita:
  • 4 ounces silver tequila
  • 4 ounces watermelon juice
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 1-ounce watermelon simple syrup
  • serving coarse salt (for the rim)
  • serving lime wedges
Instructions

1. Make the simple syrup by combining the watermelon and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Use a potato masher or another utensil to mash the watermelon and sugar together, pushing out the liquid and dissolving the sugar. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl or jar, pressing the watermelon to extract all the liquid. Set aside to cool completely. (Makes just over 1 cup of simple syrup)
2. Next, make the watermelon juice by combining the watermelon and water in a blender. Blend until smooth, pour through a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl or jar.
3. To assemble the margaritas, use a lime wedge to line the rims of two glasses with juice. Dip the glasses in coarse salt and carefully fill the glasses with ice.
4. Next, combine the tequila, watermelon juice, lime juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until thoroughly chilled, about 30 seconds, and pour into the prepared glasses. Garnish with lime wedges and serve!

JUST SAYIN'. . .
