View online

Dear EIT Health Partners and Friends,

August had many delightful news in store for our UK-Ireland based entrepreneurs and innovators. In particular, I would like to congratulate Selio co-founders Colm McGarvey and Dr Garrett Ryan on winning the 2017 Enterprise Ireland MedTech Innovator Award. They are now busily preparing to spin out from Trinity College Dublin, having won a 2017 UK-Ireland EIT Health Headstart/Proof of Concept Award in July. You can read their story in this article by the Irish Times.

It was also a pleasure to see that the UK-Ireland based founder of Immersive Rehab, Dr. Isabel Van de Keere was selected to participate in the semi-finals of EIT Health European Health Catapult in the Digital Health category. You can read more about Immersive Rehab in 'Our Innovators' section further below. The winners of the European Health Catapult will be announced at the 2017 EIT Health Summit on 4-5 December, and you will have the chance to meet Isabel in London.

At yesterday's partner assembly, the new updated EIT Health Strategic Agenda 2018-2020 and the BP2018 were approved. A big thank you to all of those who contributed in the midst of the holiday season. This is very much appreciated indeed. UK-Ireland based partners are involved in 2/3 of the BP2018 activities that will be undertaken next year, and I look forward to hearing about your successes.

We as a CLC will start into the next Business Plan cycle with a number of new appointments: Firstly, we welcome our two new Supervisory Board members, Prof. Helen Ward and Dr. Nathalie Virage who will no doubt do a fabulous job in representing the EIT Health UK-Ireland Partners on the Supervisory Board. I also congratulate, Graham Armitage on his appointment as  Education Lead for the UK-Ireland CLC;  I look forward to working with him on our Campus projects and strategy going forward. Lastly, we are hiring a new Innovation Manager for the CLC. Please refer to our careers page for further information.

Finally, I look forward to seeing you at our many upcoming local meetings in London and other cities in the region. Please register for the Partner meeting with the EIT Health Director of Innovation on 21st September and for the Partner Meeting with the EIT Health Project Management Team (PMO) on 11th October, both to be held at our London office.

"Kudos to Selio co-founders Colm McGarvey and Dr Garrett Ryan for making waves in the MedTech scene!"
