However, please join me in congratulating the teams from Ally Smartcare and Optellum – two UKI CLC supported start-ups - who placed 3rd in the EIT Health Business Plan Aggregator. Congratulations – we are very proud of you!

With the EIT finally approving EIT Health’s budget for 2017 just over a week ago, the Campus pillar is now accepting proposals for its Call for 2017 Summer Schools and Short Courses; with a submission deadline of 16 January 2017. And we are also already preparing for 2018. The Call for Proposals for our Business Plan 2018  was published on 19 December 2016. We are seeking creative and innovative project proposals in all three of our pillars: Accelerator, Campus and Innovation Projects. The submission deadline for proposals in all pillars is 12 April 2017. Those of you who are considering to prepare a proposal or are already preparing proposals can find partners at the Matchmaking Event, running 1-3 February 2017 in Uppsala, where 300 participants will have a chance to meet well-matched collaborators. Register soon, to make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity. Find out more here.

With this final newsletter for 2016, I would also like to thank each and everyone of you for making 2016 a successful year for the UK-Ireland CLC and the wider EIT Health partnership.

EIT Health Accelerator – UK-Ireland

BPA Aggregator Success for UKI CLC supported Start-Ups:
The winners of the EIT Health Business Plan Aggregator competition for 2016 were chosen after making their pitches at the EIT Health Summit. The UKI CLC placed two teams in the top 3: Ally Smartcare (3rd place MedTech category) and Optellum (3rd place DigiHealth category). See here for the full winners and their project descriptions.

Start-Up and Investor Brunch:
On 2nd Dec 2016 SMEs and start-ups supported by the UKI CLC had the opportunity to join us for some pre-christmas cheer whilst discussing their innovation with people who can help give their ideas the proverbial wings to fly.  Participants had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with our team of mentors, coaches, industry experts and financiers, hone their pitch skills with our very own pitch trainer (Beth Susanne, Visions in Focus), pick up some commissioning & reimbursement advice (Tracey Marriott, Oxford AHSN), understand different financing options (Raj Airey, Additio Investments) and refine their business model based on input from experienced entrepreneurs. In parallel, investors from the London area had the opportunity to hear more about EIT Health, in particular the EIT Health private equity platform (www.startup4.eu).

Registrations Open for Market Coach Network:
EIT Health maintains a European network of experts, who provide coaching and mentoring services to entrepreneurs and project leaders in relevant health/ageing areas through relevant market expertise and specific local knowledge. Interested individuals are now invited to register for this market coach network. By registering and interacting with our start-ups, coaches will not only have the chance to interact with our exciting start-ups and entrepreneurs, extend their professional network at European level and find new business opportunities, but will also support start-up acceleration, SME expansion and business creation out of EIT Health activities and projects, for which we are extremely grateful. For a letter of support and further information please contact the CLC office. (clc.uk-ireland@eithealth.eu).
