May Principal's Update

Parents, Students & Community Members:

We are coming into the home stretch of the school year. I am grateful for the ongoing diligence, patience and perseverance of our students, staff and families during one of our toughest years.

Last week I took a walk with one of our parents. He told me a story about his son and the struggles he had endured to achieve his dreams. It was a story of disappointment but also of triumph over obstacles. In a larger sense, that is the story of our community this year. We have struggled through disappointments, but we have also overcome great challenges. We are emerging stronger than ever and the future of the EHS community is bright.

I am thankful for our students. I encourage students to stay strong, to stay focused, and to finish the semester on a high note. For our freshmen and sophomores, using study halls wisely for these last few weeks will be very beneficial. For all of our students, be sure you are communicating with your teachers and coming in on Fridays when necessary for additional help.

I am thankful for our teachers and staff. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week - a great opportunity for us to thank our amazing teachers and staff; we are in a strong position academically at Erie High School because of them.

I am thankful for our school administration. In addition to all their normal duties, they have spent countless hours this year contact tracing and quarantining. This has been a very difficult task. Next fall, our school administration will grow as Mr. Cooper transitions from the classroom to school administration. Mr. Cooper will join Mr. Carpenter in the athletic department as an athletic director/assistant principal.

In closing, I am thankful to be your principal. For the second year in a row U.S. News & World Report has named Erie High School  - your school - as one of the best in America. There is no better place to be! Thank you once again for your unwavering support of Erie High School.

Have a good week and GO TIGERS!
