Overnight Lane Closures on SR 280/ S. Cobb Dr This Sunday for Resurfacing
ATLANTA – Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will implement overnight lane closures on SR 280/S. Cobb Drive in the Marietta and Smyrna areas in Cobb County this Sunday to continue resurfacing activities.
Weather permitting, single lane closures will be in place on SR 280/S. Cobb Road between Austell Road and the I-75 northbound lanes, from 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5 until 5:00 a.m. Monday, May 6.
These closures are designed to help ensure safety for workers and drivers during patching the roadway, initial preparation for milling, inlay and resurfacing work that will improve the road’s deteriorating condition. The project is scheduled for completion in late fall 2019.
As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
