That's what we Quimper Villagers have been doing. The first residents moved in on October 21 and others will continue moving throughout December. Sunshine, snow, rain - we don't care! We work together, using a variety of transportation modes, to get our houses furnished and livable.
We took the rainbow overhead as a sure sign of success.
Every household has a small space for storage behind the woodworking shop. Mena is glad to have the space.
Doug and Araya work together to make shelves for her pantry. Some members are skilled woodworkers and have built out the storage cubicles and tables for our common house. They will be building more for us in the future.
New tables built by our Woodchips fill the common house dining room. The chairs are both comfortable AND stackable.
An impromptu game night was called. Irene, Marcia, Phil and Cindy enjoy some laughs and pie.
Despite having a house full of boxes, these amazing folks - our Meals Team - helped us pull off Thanksgiving dinner. Ivar, Mena, Carolyn, Irene and SueC put community before their own priorities to start getting the common house kitchen organized and decorated so we could all enjoy our FIRST community meal together. Sure, we had to bring our own silverware and somebody had to run back to their house to get a carving knife (!) but, the food was HOT and the company enjoyable.
Overheard at Thanksgiving dinner:
"I finally found my TV remote; it was in with the tea bags."
"Look at all that food! Who gets the left-overs?"
"Wow - we really built something here - something long-lasting."
Happy Holidays to All!
