Drawings and Prints by Kathryn Polk

August 3 - 25, 2018
Opening Reception August 3, 6
 - 9pm
meet the artist!

Called a “virtuoso lithographer” by Juxtapoz Magazine, Polk’s work is a “wonderful mix of superb draftsmanship, childish play, and printing techniques.” Through precisely rendered visual narratives referencing the past to the present, she depicts personal, humorous, and sardonic memories and thoughts through the eyes of all the women in her bloodline; hence, “The Innate Thread.”

Also enjoy the vinyl throwback vibes of DJ Baby Alcatraz!

Installation by Clara Cornelius

Closes August 25, 2018

Caesura Obscura fills the outdoor gallery with layer upon layer of hanging fabric banners, each screenprinted with designs inspired by human, biological, and cosmic motifs. Images taken from everyday life  are re-imagined into patterns and repetitions that transform them from ordinary into magical. Located on Hilltop Road between Maple and Geneva Avenues in Takoma Park, MD.
