Gun Talk Range Report
The following letter is from Michael:
"I think hitting the range as a group is a good idea for a social outing, or a great way to introduce new people to firearms and shooting fun. Our outing involved three couples, with two spouses who had no firearms experience.
Safety night was two weeks before the range, and included an emphasis on the four basic rules of safety, range rules, eye dominance, gun handling, ear and eye protection, and appropriate clothing for the range. We also practiced using a LaserLyte Trainer Target Laser.
The night at the Range included some “fun” targets based on rival college sports logos. Of course we were quite thirsty after shooting so we had a post-range recap at a local brewery. Firearms used included a Ruger 10/22 and Smith & Wesson M&P 15 - 22 rifles, a Ruger 22/45 Mark III, and a Kahr 9mm.
Both the safety night and range night were well received. The two new shooters, two of the wives, did very well. In fact, all of the wives shot extremely well.
The range we visited, Barracks 616, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a a very nice facility and their employees were very welcoming and accommodating."
Thanks for the report, Michael!
