Bushfire Industry Recovery Package

The NSW Government's $140m 'Bushfire Industry Recovery Package' is open for applications. It offers two funding streams:
  • Supply Chain Support Grants
  • Sector Development Grants
There is also a NSW Farmers Bushfire Relief Grant open, the details of which are at the end of this email.

Supply Chain Support Grants

Open: Now
Closes: 12th June 2020
Funding: Up to $20,000

This funding stream supports the short-term recovery & resilience of the forestry, horticulture & agriculture industries in NSW impacted by the bushfires from 31st August 2019. Aquaculture businesses whose properties or aquaculture leases were affected by bushfires are eligible, including those impacted by ash & fireground runoff. Eligible projects include activities that address or respond to the impacts of bushfires, such as:
  • the purchase of oyster spat to replace oysters that died due to ash or runoff from firegrounds
  • repair or purchase critical infrastructure such as shellfish cultivation equipment, pipes, pumps and tanks to support business recovery.
The grant is being managed by the Rural Assistance Authority with the intent to enable future production and support job security.

Please note that matching co-contributions are required, however this may be cash and/or in-kind (eg. labour, vessel / equipment use, time etc.). More information is available here.

Sector Development Grants

Open: Now
Closes: 17th July 2020
Funding: Between $50k and $10m

This funding stream supports the medium to long-term recovery & resilience of forestry, horticulture and agriculture industries in NSW impacted by the bushfires from 31st August 2019.

Funding is available for projects that focus on job creation, increase value-add production, support supply-chain efficiencies, product diversification and market expansion. Matching co-contributions are required, which may be cash and/or in-kind. This grant scheme is being managed by Regional NSW. More information is available here.

There is already talk of packaging a number of projects together as part of a sector development grant application for the oyster industry. If anyone has any bright ideas that aligns with the intent of this funding, and could benefit the industry as a whole, please feel free to give either myself, Andy Myers (0488656366), or Rebecca Hamilton (0413859120) a call, or email Andy@oceanwatch.org.au.
