This week at SOTH

From Pastor Kristen

Last Sunday, we heard that Jesus calls us to show mercy.  We saw the Good Samaritan model mercy by seeing the man who'd been beaten and left for dead, listening to the man's pain, and responding with compassion. Whenever we are asked or forced to choose between Us and Them, Jesus calls us, instead, to choose mercy.

-Pastor Kristen

All Week long in Vacation Bible School we will be discovering how to follow Jesus, even when thinks are scary and we don't know the way.  We have hope because Jesus is the Light of the World!  We've got a great group of kids and a wonderful group of volunteers who are making Cave Quest VBS extra special!

If you would like to give the Children's Sermon one Sunday morning, please talk to Pastor Kristen. They are great for the kids and us older people, too!

Ushers are needed, one for the month of November and two for the month of December. Please talk to Tom Ritter if you are interested, or phone him at 636-244-7747.

Our Thanks to Tom Ritter for volunteering to lead the Facilities Committee.  He will be paying attention to the state of the grounds and facility and matching those needs with the many talents our members.
Lots O' Fun parking lot fundraiser will be THIS SUNDAY, July 17, after worship. Come ready for fun!  There's still time to volunteer to run a game!  Contact Martha Johnson if you're interested.  All the proceeds will be used to fix our parking lot. You can also make a donation directly to Shepherd of the Hills. Just write "Parking Lot Donation" in the memo line on your check. We are hoping to raise $2,100 for the parking lot. It will be lots of fun. Bring your family and friends. Fun for everyone and money for a good cause!
G.I.F.T. Growing in Faith Together is a time for all ages to come together and bring your friends!.  On specific Wednesday evenings this summer, we will gather together from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. here at Church to share a meal, tell a story, and spend time in fellowship activities using "An Illustrated Earth" curriculum.  (The coloring posters are back!) We will hear water stories, plant and food stories, animal stories and each event will be shaped by YOU.  You can also participate with these events while you are away on vacation.  There are "flat earth" signs that you can take with you wherever you go this summer on vacation.  Take a picture of you with your sign, and celebrate that YOU were there Celebrating God's Creation. Post your photo with the hashtag #AnIllunstratedEarth to join your picture with others across the country who are participating in the same curriculum. Our next G.I.F.T. Wednesday is July 20. Let's have some Fun while Celebrating God's Creation!

SOTH will host a Book Fair, Bake Sale, and Raffle on Saturday, July 30. Start looking through your books to find those you would like to donate, and bring them to the senior high classroom at church. Please bring your goodies to sell for the bake sale.

Proceeds from the Book Fair will benefit Joni and Friends, Humanitri, and The Bridge. The Bake Sale will benefit WELCA. The Men's Group will be serving hot dogs and chips. Volunteers will be needed on Thursday and Friday to get the books ready for sale. Please see Pat Amick for questions.  Pat also needs box lids and bags for purchased books.
