This week at SOTH

This past Sunday was a Spirit-filled, joyous celebration of 50 years of God’s steadfast love and the faithful response of the people of Shepherd of the Hills to their baptismal calling. Bishop Roger Gustafson of the Central States Synod preached about listening to the Good Shepherd and following his voice. And he called us to be a good sign – a gospel sign in the world around us.

Last weekend’s celebration is a great springboard for the coming two Sundays. May 8 we will celebrate the Ascension of our Lord, and May 15 we will celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, bringing the season of Easter to a close with a whirlwind of flames and voices!

On that Pentecost Sunday we will have a Liberian-style worship service, followed by a special welcome and fundraiser for the Flomo family. Alex and Florence Flomo were blessed to be reunited – just last week – with their daughter, Luvena, and Alex’s mother, Korto, who came from Liberia to live with their family here. It is our hope and prayer that their reunion might be blessed! There will be more details coming about this special event.

Easter blessings,

-Pastor Kristen
