This week at SOTH

Tonight is GIFT night, from 6:00 - 7:30. Come together for a potluck meal and fun, faith-forming activities for all generations! Tonight we will be decorating the building for next week's Cave Quest VBS. Come get a sneak peek! (VBS volunteers might stay later than scheduled time.)

From Pastor Kristen

Last Sunday, we were reminded that we are sent out to share the good news of the Kingdom of God using teamwork and trusting obedience. In our baptism we are called - not to success or failure - but to faithfulness.

I would like to give thanks this week for the faithful teamwork of Stan and Beckha Ford, John Daab, and Jim Sanderson. Stan spent last Friday at church with Beckha and Lauri Anderson, working on the maintenance of our air conditioners. John has been working to spray the weeds on the church grounds, while Jim continues his faithful maintenance of picking up trash around the grounds. Thank you for your service to the congregation!

-Pastor Kristen

The Garden of Eatin' Community Garden will be hosting a cooking demonstration by Operation Food Search on Saturday, July 9 at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn how to make use of some of the vegetables that are typically grown in home gardens in our area.
Vacation Bible School will be held July 11-15 in the evenings at Shepherd of the Hills. We are gearing up for an Adventure this summer: Cave Quest, Following Jesus, the Light of the World. "Where kids will find grounding in the rock-solid foundation of God's love, a love that takes us through life's dark times." Bring your kids and their friends. Please sign up to help with crafts, games, snacks, teaching, leading and more. See Jenna Hutson if you have any questions.
Lots O' Fun parking lot fundraiser will be Sunday, July 17 after worship. There are sign up sheets in the Fellowship Hall to bring a cake for the "Cake Walk" and a separate sign-up to be doused with a bucket of water. You can buy tickets to play a game. There will be water games, Carnival Games, Ice Cream, a Cake Walk and Face Painting. All the proceeds will be used to fix our parking lot. You can also make a donation directly to Shepherd of the Hills. Just write "Parking Lot Donation" in the memo line on your check. We are hoping to raise $2,100 for the parking lot. It will be lots of fun. Bring your family and friends. Fun for everyone and money for a good cause!

SOTH will host a Book Fair, Bake Sale, and Raffle on Saturday, July 30. Start looking through your books to find those you would like to donate, and bring them to the senior high classroom at church. Please bring your goodies to sell for the bake sale.

Proceeds from the Book Fair will benefit Joni and Friends, Humanitri, and The Bridge. The Bake Sale will benefit WELCA. The Men's Group will be serving hot dogs and chips. Volunteers will be needed on Thursday and Friday to get the books ready for sale. Please see Pat Amick for questions.  Pat also needs box lids and bags for purchased books.
