Executive Director Update

Grateful for your Support!

As we enter the 2021 holiday season, MAEE has much to be thankful for and primary among our many good fortunes is the continued support of our dedicated members, donors, and colleagues in the environmental education community. The winding down of the calendar always marks a time for reflection, perhaps more so in 2021 given the challenges we have all faced together over the last two years. Being able to gather in person, even in a limited manner, shows just how special seemingly mundane events can be and reminds us not to take anything for granted.

So in that sprit of gratitude, we celebrate and honor the good works of our annual MAEE 2021 Environmental Education Awards winners! It is an outstanding group chosen from a stellar batch of candidates. We hope you can join us at our virtual awards ceremony on December 5th. Please see below for the list of winners and further details, and our sincere thanks go out to all those who made nominations.

If you share our appreciation for the great things being accomplished by our Minnesota Environmental Education Community, we hope you will consider donating to MAEE during Give To The Max Day on Thursday November 18th. Your generosity is directly shared with others actively involved with environmental education in Minnesota and supports scholarships, resources, and even year end awards!

MAEE is the hub connector for environmental programs and practitioners throughout MN and we could not be prouder to represent and provide critical assistance to our incredible EE partners. Please join us and give what you can so we can continue to share resources with these deserving educators.

Sending you and yours the very best wishes for festive, safe, and healthy holiday season!

Thanks as always for your continued support of Minnesota environmental education.

Give to the Max

Give to the Max Day 2021 is November 18th
Now more than ever our dedicated environmental education professionals teaching in schools, interpreting at nature centers, leading outdoor recreation programs, counseling in summer camps, and advocating at government agencies need and deserve your support. Our children and future generations are looking to us for leadership on critical global environmental issues that can no longer be delayed. Won't you help us help them?

As a small, volunteer managed nonprofit MAEE is totally dependent upon the generosity of our members and donors to continue our important work of connecting environmental educators throughout Minnesota. November ECO Event Recap

At November's ECO Event, MAEE had the incredible opportunity to learn about an international gem right here in Minnesota: Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve. Our group of environmental educators and outreach professionals had the chance to engage in a sampling of some of Cedar Creek's educational programs, hike through a representation of Minnesota's natural habitats on the way to Cedar Bog Lake (where ecosystem ecology was birthed), and learn about Cedar Creek's groundbreaking research that led to Lindeman's  ten percent law of ecological efficiency, the invention of radio collars for animal tracking, our earliest understanding of the importance of biological diversity, and much more. Through activities, discussion, and conversation along the way, attendees had many opportunities to learn, connect, and network with one another. Don't miss your chance to engage with others at our next ECO Events!
