News and upcoming events from Believe in Haiti
April 2021
Believe in Haiti is devoted to keeping Haitian families together through love, education, and service, while empowering individuals to rise above their current poverty level.

The Past Year-

I think we can all agree, the past 12 months have thrown quite a curve ball at us.  We've seen countries shut down, job losses, and of course plenty of disease and illness.
While these trials and challenges inevitably paused schooling and slowed-down some projects in Haiti, we continue to move forward and have plenty of progress to report on.  Before we get to that,  first we'd like to say
"Thank You."
We know there's been plenty of change this past year, but we've had many people continue their sponsorships despite the chaotic world around us.
These sponsorships mean so much to Believe in Haiti, and they mean everything to the children that are recipients and able to attend school.
Education is a huge factor in poverty and financial security, health, and family life.

Hope Center Progress

We love watching our new Hope Center take shape from the ground up!  The land has been cleared, the steel frame is up, and the roof trusses are in.  The new Hope Center sits on a piece on land with a beautiful backdrop.  We expect great things to happen here!

New English Instructors

The St. Rock community has been very excited to see English classes starting up again.  We are fortunate to have two great instructors this year.  We had a chance to sit in on a live English class a few weeks ago, and were impressed with the amount of preparation and interactive lessons that we saw.  The students are pushed to work hard, and we can tell they are there to really get to work and learn.

Labour and Agricultural Day

On May 1st, Haiti celebrates Labour and Agricultural Day.  Much of Haiti's economy is made of agriculture, so it's appropriate to have a day to honor those working in this trade.  Each year in Port-au-Prince, a large industrial and agricultural fair is held where various business owners and tradesmen can display their goods and services.
Around the rest of the country are parades, feasts, and other activities to celebrate!

Sponsorship Program
The Believe in Haiti School Sponsorship program continues to add students to its roster. As the school sponsorship program has grown, so too have the services provided to students and their families. Over the past few years, meals have been provided to schoolchildren several times per week, ensuring that full bellies lead to growing minds. Not only does the School Sponsorship program ensure all students in St. Rock have an equal opportunity to receive an education and a meal, but has provided some of the parents of sponsored students with a job. Believe in Haiti employs five parents to prepare the food for school-children, which can take up to 6 hours, due to traditional cooking methods.

With your continued support of Believe in Haiti, the School Sponsorship program can continue to thrive as it not only provides educational opportunities to the children of St. Rock, but employment opportunities to the parents of St. Rock.
