COVID-19 began in Haiti months ago, but now it is really starting to spread and make its way through. We are so grateful for our sewing program, who last month decided to spring back into action. These talented students have been working five days a week to make masks that will be distributed all over the area. To date, they have made 850 masks. When finished, we will be coordinating with the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation to distribute masks. This has been such a great service opportunity and we are so glad they have a semester of sewing lessons under their belt already so that they were well prepared to rise to the task of helping their community.

The goats have arrived!
After months of preparation, we have purchased 12 Boer goats. We brought in 2 males and 10 females, some of which are pregnant. Goats are an accepted form of meat in Haiti, as well as used for breeding. The goal for the goats is to raise and increase the herd as a means of investment. Being able to sell goats will bring income to the program and to those who help raise them. We already have a goat shelter and the goat-keeper's house is close to finished.
We'd like to give a BIG thank you to the following families for contributing to the goat program. Below are the names each family has chosen for their goat.

Mother's Day in Haiti was on May 31st, and we have such respect for the women in Haiti. This mother, Helene, has four beautiful children and is a cook for the feeding program. Helene has been with Believe in Haiti since the beginning, along with her kids who have been part of the sponsorship program. She is a hard worker and a loving mother!
|
|
|
|
Father's Day is June 28th, and there are some incredible fathers in Haiti as well. Makenson (Left) does not live in St. Rock, but has been incredible in coordinating our recently received grant for the sewing program. He is an amazing father and husband to his family and continues to work hard and support the mission of Believe in Haiti. If you met Makenson at the Colorado fundraiser in November, you most likely realized what a positive, hard working man he is.
