Earthquake Relief
On August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti in the Tiburon Peninsula, about 93 miles away from Port Au Prince. It caused significant damage to hundreds of thousands of structures, caused thousands of deaths, and an estimated nearly 13,000 injuries.
Believe in Haiti's founder and a board member hopped on the first available plane to go down and assist with medical needs. There they met with other Believe in Haiti staff and volunteers, and joined emergency response teams. We were also able to collaborate with another foundation in the Dominican Republic to purchase hundreds of tarps. These tarps will help families in many villages in the affected earthquake areas.
Haiti is a country without resources amply available like other places, so we, and THEY, were incredibly grateful for the incredible financial support. In a matter of days, you donated thousands of dollars to aid with earthquake recovery.
