News and upcoming events from Believe inHaiti
July 2019
Believe in Haiti is devoted to keeping Haitian families together through love, education, and service, while empowering individuals to rise above their current poverty level.

Fashion Show

Maybe it's not a real fashion show, but the sewing program could put one on with all the great items they have learned to make!  These sewing students have been working hard and producing beautiful skirts, tops, and now dresses.  The majority of the rural population in Haiti lives in dire poverty.  With a self-run business, the average seamstress in Haiti makes around $2,400 each year.  That salary goes up if the seamstress works for a large company.  Each stitch is leading these girls to a better life ahead, and we are excited to watch them thrive.

St. Rock News

Have you every written a short story?  These guys have!  They can read in English, write in English, chat in English, play games, sing songs...there's not much they can't do!  These boys are focused and succeeding!
Their listening skills were challenged as well as they listened to a clip with Michelle Obama and also watched Hollywood's Will Smith (and family) get interviewed.  Teacher Jeff has constructed a fun and incredibly effective learning environment.

Haiti Spotlight

Jackson’s big smile is legendary among Believe in Haiti volunteers.  However, that smile hides the pain and grief he has endured in such a short life. His father left St. Roch years ago to secure better employment but never returned. His mother remarried a man, but one he could never call a father, as this man, and ultimately his mother, denied Jackson any support or care. Jackson now lives with an older gentleman in the village who has little means to provide for him. While our love for Jackson has grown over the years, Jackson’s physical stature has not, due to continued malnourishment. Jackson is a regular participant in the feeding program and attends school via a sponsorship. Your continued support of Believe in Haiti will ensure Jackson has a full belly and quick mind.

Thank you!
