December 2020
Believe in Haiti is devoted to keeping Haitian families together through love, education, and service, while empowering individuals to rise above their current poverty level.

Today Is Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a worldwide event.  From GivingTuesday.org-
"People around the globe will come together in unity and showing kindness and generosity in all its forms by giving their voice, time, money, goods, and advocacy to support communities and causes."
You can participate in Giving Tuesday by spreading kindness, volunteering, reaching out to the elderly, or of course, making a donation.
We would be honored and greatly appreciative if you would consider a donation to Believe in Haiti.
At a time when the world is struck with trials and challenges, we are here to pull together and help make life a little easier.

The Hope Center

After running the Hope Center out of a rented building for a while now, the time has come for an official upgrade.  For years now, Believe in Haiti has been saving and planning to build our very own Hope Center that will cater to exactly what it is needed for.  As a place to hold classes, have a library, community education, and possibly a bakery, the new Hope Center is finally and officially underway.  The Hope Center will be a place of community, education, and jobs for those in St. Rock.  We are excited to share progress over the many months as the dream becomes a reality.
You can be part of the Hope Center progress.

Sewing Program

Along with skirts, shirts, and thousands of masks, the sewing class also made uniforms to give to the school students.  We recently passed out 27 uniforms to kids who needed one, and have more in the works!
Beginning in January, a new sewing session will begin.  Our instructor Jeannine will be teaching 3 different classes in 6-month sessions.  We are excited for another great year of sewing.

Recent Trip

We were fortunate to be able to visit Haiti last month and check up on all the programs, the farmland, and (our favorite,) connect with the people.  The world is in a place that makes it difficult (and impossible, for months) to visit Haiti.  Building relationships is incredibly important in the work we do.  We had some great bonding experiences as we watched soccer, took a dip in the ocean, and met and snuggled with new babies.  These experiences were both bonding and rewarding, as a few of our local on-the-ground people have worked hard to keep everything running during our long absence.  We are grateful for the chance to return to Haiti.

Meet Daphcar!

Daphcar is pictured with her little sister here.  She is an older teenager with 5 siblings and is a participant in the Believe in Haiti sponsorship program.  Her mom is a cook for the feeding program at Believe in Haiti, and Daphcar can often be found there helping cook!
