Change of Date

The SLSNT Awards of Excellence are about recognising the amazing effort and achievements of our members during the Season whilst providing the opportunity to formally thank our many supporters and sponsors.

The Awards are usually held in November each year, however this is a busy time of year, so attendance in the past few years has been slowly declining.

SLSNT has decided to trial a new date for the 2016 Awards of Excellence.
Awards of Excellence - Saturday 18 March 2017
(AGM - Saturday 18 March 2017)

It is hoped that this change will:
  • better link our Awards of Excellence with the SLSA Awards of Excellence - NT winners nominated for SLSA awards will attend the national ceremony in the same year,
  • enable the Awards of Excellence, our major event, to be used as a launch and create momentum going into the 2017 season,
  • encourage members, sponsors and supporters to attend as there is less going on at that time of year.
  • give clubs much more flexibility to host their own awards night and encourage more nominations to be submitted for the NT awards.
The additional time will also allow SLSNT to personalise the Awards presented to our amazing volunteers.

New SAR Team members wanted!

SLSNT is expecting our new 9.5m Offshore Rescue Boat in January 2017, so we are keen to make sure there are enough drivers and crew to operate our 24/7 marine Search & Rescue service.

We are searching for SLS members that would like to fill these valuable positions. Training on offer includes Elements of Shipboard Safety (Crew) and Coxswains Grade 1 (Driver), which are also commercial maritime qualifications.

Ideally you would be a member of a SLSNT club, 16 years of age or over, hold a bronze medallion and be willing and able to assist in emergency marine Search & Rescue situations.

If you are interested in this training and joining the SAR Team, please email your full name, club and whether you are interested in becoming a crewie or driver!

More information on the SAR Team and our 24/7 marine Search & Rescue service can be found on our website by clicking here.
