NEWS

Lancaster Train and Model Swap Shop

On March 25th, we will be hosting our first train and model show at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds in Lancaster, Ohio.

Our goal is to host a train show in Southeastern Ohio that will grow over the years, and provide a fun and economical venue for our customers.  Partnering with the FORKS R/C show will make this a double plus day to mark on the calendar.

The fairgrounds are at 125 West Fair Ave. The venue is the Ed Sands Building and doors open at 8:30 a.m. and will close at 3:00 p.m.

The show will feature operating layouts along with vendor tables. If you are interested in a vendor table, they are $10 ea. Please contact the shop at 740-653-0404 for reservations.

Don't have enough items to justify a table? Never fear. We here at the SSHS have you covered. Simply drop your item off at our White Elephant table the day of the show. You set the sales price and we will sell it for you for a 25% commission. If the item does not sell, we'll give you a call on Monday and you simply drop in and pick it up.

Admission is $3 with women and children admitted free. Parking is also free. A dual admission to the FORKS. R/C Model show in the adjacent building is only $5

Hocking Valley Model Railroad Club

The Hocking Valley Model Railroad Club has begun construction of their HO scale layout inside the shop. We will post pictures of the progress. If you are interested in joining the club, or simply stopping by to watch, the club meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings. New members are always welcome.

SSHS O Scale Layout

The shop will begin construction of an O scale layout soon. The layout will be situated in the front of the shop, near our train display cases. We envision this to be a hands-on, interactive layout that will be fun for kids and adults alike to enjoy. We will post photos of the progress of this layout as well.
NEW ARRIVALS
Since our move to the new shop location, we have added many new product lines to our inventory. In our kids' area, we have Thomas the Train items, wooden railway sets from Melissa and Doug, and a variety of books, puzzles and educational products.

We have expanded our metal sign inventory and now roster a nice selection of not only train signs, but auto and aviation signs as well (and a few sci-fi items too).

We have added to our science area with a nice assortment of activity-based kits and experiments.

Our book selection has grown. And we now have a library area situated next to the kids section with a variety of books and magaznes available for you to peruse while having a hot or cold beverage and a snack. (Free popcorn on Saturday's)

If there are products that we don't stock that you would like to see, just let us know. We are happy to explore the possibility of adding them to our lineup, or special ordering them for you.
