October 2019

In case you hadn't heard - we've moved! But don't worry we've not gone far. We're now located at:

Focal Point
27 – 35 Fleet Street
Swindon
SN1 1RQ

All other contact details will remain the same, and we'll continue to have our open door policy should you wish to pop in for a coffee and a catch-up.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces attend our Christmas launch at the Wyvern earlier this month. The support on such a busy period for the town centre is appreciated and we hope you all got something from it. Buddy the Elf did a great job with his 'meet and greets' we couldn't resist putting a show reel together. If you were there, see if you can spot yourself.

On the note of Christmas, we've plenty more to share with you as well as other town centre updates, so I'll leave you to digest everything that's going on.

Clean and Well Maintained

The role of our caretaker

Freddie, our town centre caretaker, takes on various roles, but is essentially responsible for helping keep our town centre a cleaner and welcoming environment. Freddie splits his time with general litter picks, graffiti and chewing gum removal, washing of bins and benches, plus so much more.
If you notice something in the town that you believe needs Freddie's attention, drop us a line and help us to keep our town centre clean and well maintained.

Partners collaborate for a welcoming town centre
An initiative which is designed to discourage anti-social behaviour in Swindon Town Centre has been launched. Swindon Borough Council has joined forces with Wiltshire Police and inSwindon to focus on improving the behaviours of a minority of people within the Town Centre area currently covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).

Find out more here.

SBC Officers have been joined by the Street Team for daily Joint Patrols. The twice daily targeted patrols are proving a great success in educating and tackling behaviours which contravene the order and 495 PSPOs were reported throughout September.

Swindon town centre stats

The latest town centre stats are now in for September.  Due to how the weeks fall, the September footfall figures calculated include the last week of August, hence such a high increase month-on-month as this still included the Summer Holidays. We have calculated the busiest days of the month for September and identified these within our monthly infographic.

Have your say on elections.
Swindon Borough Council is keen to get the views of local businesses as part of a public consultation running until Friday 25 October 2019 on a potential change to how often it holds Borough Council elections in Swindon. You can find further information on the consultation, including the benefits of both models suggested here.
