3rd NEWTON Consortium meeting held in CEU, Spain

6th - 7th of April, 2017, CEU, Madrid, Spain - The 3rd NEWTON Consortium Meeting has been held at the Institute of Technology (CEU University). Participants in the event included members of the 14 participants of the NEWTON project, coordinated by the Project Coordinator, Dr. Gabriel-Miro Muntean.

Present were as well the Vice Chancellor for Teaching Staff and Research of CEU University, Dr. Agustín Probanza Lobo and the Director of the Institute of Technology (Escuela Politécnica Superior), Dr. David Santos Mejía.
 

First meeting on NEWTON Pilot B - Remote Education, held in Salerno, Italy

29th of March, Salerno, Italy - First Meeting about NEWTON Remote Education Pilot has been held at “Da Procida” Institute in Salerno, Italy on March 29th, 2017.

Participants in the event were Fabio Di Salvadore and Giuseppe Guarino for QUI! Group, Carmine De Nicola for Beyond, the NEWTON Advisory Board Prof. Domenico Cariello and some teachers of the two involved Italian Associated Partners, “Da Procida” and “Santa Caterina-Amendola” Institutes (Prof. Clementina D’Amico, Prof. Rosangela Cuoco, Prof. Anna Pisacane, Prof. Maria Grazia Rubino, Prof. Ciro Calabrese). Aim of the event was to share among the participants current status and issues about designing, definition and organization of the Pilot and plan future activities. 

An interesting open discussion on various educational topics regarding Pilot’s objectives took place. Participants’ point of view and ideas about learning pathways definition and content generation, training on NEWTON technologies, regulations and key competencies on educational process, disabilities and special needs typologies to be considered in the Pilot were analyzed in detail.

FabLab workshop on 3D printing held in CEU Madrid

24th of April, CEU Madrid, Spain - a group of CEU Sanchinarro School attended a Workshop on 3D Printing technologies at FabLab Madrid CEU as part of the project CEU Investiga. The students worked in the fabrication of a chess set for children with visual disabilities.

They learned how to 3D model the pieces in a computer-aided design software and how to generate the files that allowed them to fabricate the pieces with 3D printing technologies. The chess set will be part of the 3D printer items that will be sent to the orphanage St. Helene in Haiti this summer, thanks to the cooperation with the ONG NPH.
