I wish you and your loved ones the best of health during the pandemic. In an effort to continue with engaging events, while maintaining social distancing, over the last month, we launched the American Club online events with four engaging events.
If you did not have a chance to see them, they can still be viewed on the following links:
Andre Adair (March 27): https://youtu.be/Bwd7NF03E08
Consul General Darion Akins (April 1): https://youtu.be/H8Q52ch7KwI
MdB Metin Hakverdi (April 28): https://youtu.be/uLPj19lkevA
This week (Thursday at 6 pm) as part of the American Club online series, we are proud to present former Consul General Herbert Quelle, German CG (2016-2019) to Chicago (Hamburg's sister city) and the Midwest states.
Offering us a break from everything related to the politics and the virus, Herbert will present the fascinating history of the harmonica, an instrument developed in Germany, which has greatly influenced music styles in the US over many generations. An estimated 250 million have been exported to the US, with most passing through the Port of Hamburg. The title of the presentation is:
A German-American Love Story— The Harmonica Thursday May 7 at 6pm in Hamburg (11 am in Chicago)

So, please join us for a treat! Grab your favorite beer, wine or other drink, since Herbert will also play us some tunes. For a delightful read, I encourage you to check out the former Consul General's novel Monica's Blues — on the Trail of the German Harmonica and African-American Blues Culture, which can be ordered at
