FDIS Housing Survey - Results
We carried out a housing survey in November 2018 to assist the MOD in reviewing the provision of military housing. 670 of you responded to our survey, and the results are here. Thank you for speaking up.
 

The Royal Marines Charity - Business Set Up Workshop 
The Royal Marines Charity is hosting a free business set up workshop for serving Royal Marines in resettlement and their families on Wednesday 13th February at CTCRM. The day will focus on all the key elements of developing your idea into a solid business plan. For further details and to register your interest here.
 

Free Creative Media Production Course for Service Leavers
The SSVC organisation, known to many through their BFBS Radio and TV programmes, are offering an opportunity for Service Leavers to undertake a free, full-time creative media production course for the next academic year (Sep 19 – Jul 20). Successful applicants will also receive a bursary of up to £18,000 from the Royal British Legion to cover living expenses. The closing date for applications is 31st January 19. NHS and Schools in England to Reform Children's Mental Health Care
In December 2017, the Department of Health and the Department for Education released a Green Paper to consult on mental health provision for children and young people. The NFF released a formal response, following the publication of this Green paper. The implementation has now begun – 25 trailblazer areas across England to provide expert mental health support to almost half a million children and young people every year. Do you know of a school in England that is supporting Service children? You can help schools to share their effective practice to improve support for Service children by completing this short survey, funded by our partners in the SCiP Alliance. 
 

RFEA Employment Support - Nationwide
RFEA has launched a programme to help the spouses and partners of serving and ex-Forces personnel into employment with the support of a dedicated Families Employment Advisor. The help includes career diagnostics, individual employment case-working support, access to vocational training funding and job-brokerage to suitable and sustainable jobs through their extensive database of employers. Government Seeks Views On Access To Social Housing For Armed Forces Community
The government has opened a consultation process on improving access to social housing for members of the Armed Forces community. The consultation runs until 8th March 2019, and the views of individuals as well as groups are welcomed.
 

Annington Challenge 2019

The Annington Challenge, run in conjunction with The Outward Bound Trust, gives young people from Armed Forces families the chance to tackle their very own outward bound adventure and is now open to applications for Summer 2019.

MOD Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS)
Did you know that the ERS acknowledges employers who have provided exceptional support to the Armed Forces community and defence by going above and beyond their Covenant pledges? The nomination process for the 2019 ERS Gold Award is now open until 23:59 on 8th March 2019. 'UP2U: Armed Forces' to Provide Domestic Abuse/ Violence Intervention and Support  
Up2U: Armed Forces is a partnership project with Southern Domestic Abuse Service, Portsmouth City Council, University of Portsmouth and RNRMW. The project will provide and evaluate a healthy relationships programme for RN and RM personnel and their families. Please contact Up2U@portsmouthcc.gov.uk for more information.
 

Amazon Military Insight Day (London)
Amazon is hosting a Military Insight Day for Service spouses/ partners, Service Leavers and Veterans in London on Tuesday 12th February. There will be an informal networking reception towards the end of the event. For more information and to register your place, please visit this site.

'Benefit not Burden' 
A new report launched by The Forces in Mind Trust on 22nd January, titled ‘Benefit not Burden’, calls for increased awareness around the benefits to businesses, public and voluntary sector organisations in the UK in signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant and being a Veteran friendly employer.
 

Poppy Pod Membership 2019 - Now Open
Located in New Forest National Park, the Poppy Pod Village is the Tile Barn Outdoor Centre’s legacy to Armed Forces personnel. In the campsite, you will find wooden camping pods and other facilities. The Centre also runs adventurous activities several days a week. The Poppy Pod Membership for 2019 is now open for purchase. Serving personnel (Regular and Reservists) can join this scheme and use the facility for free, along with their family members, at weekends and school holidays.
 

Aurora New Dawn
Domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking affect the Armed Forces Community as much as any other. However, members of the Forces community can face unique barriers to reporting and accessing support. Aurora New Dawn provides a dedicated service to Armed Forces Personnel and their families.
