LA84 celebrated its 30th annual Summer Aquatics in 2016, with more than 10,000 youth ages 7 to 17 participating across 110 pools and 15 municipalities in Los Angeles County. Summer Swim was established shortly after the Foundation’s inception to give swim lessons and teach water safety to children in communities with previously lower levels of swimming ability and participation in the pool. Months of hard work and staying active culminated in August with the Swim and Diving Festival at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center and the Water Polo and Synchronized Swimming Festival at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatic Center. More than 1,500 youth took part in the four different events at the festivals, which saw athletes, coaches, volunteers, parents and even an Olympic gold medalist come together for a day of friendly competition and fun in the pool.
