Dear Cornell Fencing Family,
The Cornell Fencing Association is preparing for its 2020 election for the CFA Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee, responsible for soliciting nominations and conducting the election, is accepting nominations through February 15, 2020, for three positions: President and two general board member positions. The term is July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2023.
The CFA was founded in 2015 by a group of diverse and dedicated individuals with a vision to promote and ensure the continued success of Cornell Fencing. The CFA quickly brought our fiercely loyal alumni community together and helped raise more for Fencing’s Annual Fund than ever before. Together with Coach Ariana Klinkov, we are building on Cornell Fencing's tradition of excellence.
The CFA supports the program through a social media presence, continuous outreach efforts and organizing alumni recognition and social events. We share a goal with the Head Coach and the Athletic Director to reinstate a men's varsity program, and we are determined to make that a reality.
Board members are asked annually to make a financial contribution to the fencing program, attend at least one of our two main social events, and are strongly encouraged to attend the annual meeting in Ithaca, held the same weekend as our annual banquet. Additionally, regular attendance at our monthly meetings (via conference call), and serving on a committee every year are required duties. Further information is available in our bylaws.
Should you want to nominate yourself or another CFA member for one of the above positions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and state whether you are interested in running and/or who you are nominating, as well as a preference for either the presidency or a general board seat.
As nominations are submitted, the Nominating Committee will review the submissions and follow up with the nominees with appropriate next steps.
If you have further questions, please email email@example.com, and Let's Go Red!
