CALL TO WORSHIP                                       Pastor Craig

From the comfort of our homes we gather to worship. Whether through printed word, or through the gift of technology we are a community. Here we seek connection to the Divine. Come, let us worship God, shown to us through the risen Christ.

OPENING HYMN    How Firm a Foundation  (vs. 1-4) 463

1. How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in God’s excellent Word!
What more can be said than to you God hath said,
to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

2. Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
for I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.

3. When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
the rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
for I will be near thee, thy troubles to bless,
and sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

4. When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
my grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;
the flame shall not hurt thee, I only design
thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

We confess we have strayed away from your Word
We cry out to you, O God
We confess that we have allowed the worries of this world to drive us away from your vision for our lives
We cry out to you, O God
We confess that there is strife and contention all around us
We cry out to you, O God
Let us confess together:
That we are powerless and have taken our focus off your Word….that we have not allowed your Word to work in our lives, yet we continue to cry out to you in times of trouble and need. Grant understanding and wisdom that we may see your vision and apply it in our lives. Hear our prayer, O God, and call us back to you.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

The scriptures tell us that God’s love will find us no matter how far away we are from the Word.  Just as Jesus found Zacchaeus hiding in a tree, God will find us and bring us home.  It does not matter what we have done wrong, we still belong to God.  We have the assurance that God will rescue us.  This is the good news of the Gospel!

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE/THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

CHILDREN’S MOMENT

SCRIPTURE READING                    Psalm 119:105-112

105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. 106 I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. 107 I have suffered much; preserve my life, Lord, according to your word. 108 Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. 109 Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. 110 The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. 111 Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. 112 My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.

SERMON   How to Walk in the Dark           Pastor Diane

HYMN                 Thy Word                                       458

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

When I feel afraid, and I think I've lost my way,
still you're there right beside me.

Nothing will I fear as long as you are near.
Please be near me to the end.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE
                  Let There Be Peace on Earth

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be. With God our Creator, children all are we.
Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now.
With ev'ry breath I take, let this be my solemn vow,
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally. Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
