Part of January involves receiving end-of-the-year statements of our 401ks, our IRAs and Roths, and other Investment vehicles, and questioning, will we have enough? Which makes me wonder if ever we can have enough? When there have been crises over gas consumption, did we consider making fewer trips to Safeway? Are we willing to face that change requires we re-evaluate and change? Or do we imagine that somehow miraculously, God will provide for us?

Last summer, we nearly set a record for the amount of rainfall received, in the desert, yet it is not enough.

Will enough be when some other Nation attacks us, and our stockpiles no longer exist?

I was in a Church meeting, where we were considering the Bible passage of Matthew 25:31-46, which is the passage about The Son of man separating the Sheep and Goats, to say “Well done, when I was hungry you fed me; when thirsty you gave me a drink; when naked, you clothed me; when in prison, you visited me…” And it occurred to me, recently there were 6 tornadoes that caused devastation in a single night… Our congregation responded by giving nearly $15,000 to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance! But less than a week later there were devastating fires that consumed much of the property of Colorado and having just responded to the tornadoes, we did not request donations for burn victims. So are we sheep who will be praised, or goats who are chastised? When is enough, enough?

See you in Worship
