Good morning 2022!

How many years did we look at circumstances to provide our happiness.  Now, with age and wisdom, we know that happiness is our individual responsibility.  Proverbs 28:14 tells us that “Happy (some versions say Blessed) are the people who fear the Lord.” and admonishes us that whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.”  What a simple formula.  Let’s not complicate it by imposing our expectations onto others with an anticipation that someone else’s behavior will rule our happiness.

With Proverbs 28:14 hidden in my heart,  I look forward, eagerly, to see what wonders God will wrought this year.  Some will be in far off places and all I can do is know about them and rejoice.  Some will be in our country, state, county, neighborhood.  As the wonders close in around us, we will become a part of them.  My being a part of God’s work may be as simple as smiling and empathizing with someone else.  It may mean making a donation of time or money to some worthy cause.   May I open my physical and spiritual ears to hear God’s leading.  May I be obedient to whatever God impresses into my spirit.

Mostly, I’m talking to me.  I am just so excited to watch  2022 unfold.  I am excited to find my role and fulfill it.  From years of Christian instruction, I absolutely know that as I submit to Christ my steps will be ordered of the Lord.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
