Te Whare Tu, Te Whare Ora 2016
Now is the time to gather our whanau, cuzzies and colleagues to begin kapa haka practice – Te Whare Tu, Te Whare Ora 2016 is here!

The event is a whanau focused kapa haka event celebrating our marae, iwi, Maori organizations, agencies, and wider communities.

This year’s theme is Manaaki Tangata – a call to action to strengthen a strong cultural identity in the prevention of suicide.

A representative of each participating kapa or group will be invited to sign a community accord, which asks that we collectively participate in a Maori community information network as a positive step in keeping our whanau safe from suicide.

Te Whare Tu, Te Whare Ora 2016 will be held at Hansen Hall, Southern Institute of Technology, on August 12 from 5.30pm.
For more information call (03) 214 5260 and ask for Daniel or Leoma.
New Faces in the Whare!

Jade Unahi: Recently we welcomed Jade Unahi into our Community Services team.

The father-of-three comes to us with an extensive working background as a social worker in schools, a Corrections Officer and roles within youth justice.

Jade, who has a passion for youth and supporting people, is stoked to be here and says he enjoys working for a forward-thinking agency, and Tracey Wright-Tawha, who is “always one step ahead – progressive”.

Outside of work Jade enjoys an active lifestyle involving waka ama, rugby and cross-fit.

Ebony Morton: Recently we welcomed Ebony Morton into a position supporting our accreditation needs at He Puna Waiora.

Ebony has recently returned home from Christchurch and has completed a diploma in business.

She is excited to be here at Nga Kete and says she knew several people who work here and enjoy it, which prompted her to approach the agency.

The keen netball player and mother-of-two is enjoying her new role.

Deli Diack: Deli Diack has returned to Nga Kete after spending a year working as a whanau ora navigator for the 1000 Days Trust, and she’s excited to be back!

“It’s like coming home”.

The qualified child birth educator and assessor for the New Zealand Breast Feeding Authority, has taken on a role supporting pregnancy, parenting and much more.

Her work is all about enabling, encouraging, and enhancing the journey through parenting. “It’s about building resilience and confidence to be the best parents they can be.”

The mother of two is looking forward to stepping into a new challenge.

You Are My I Love You

I am your parent, you are my child.
I am your quiet place, you are my wild.
I am your calm face, you are my giggle.

I am your wait, you are my wiggle.
I am your finish line, you are my race.
I am your praying hands, you are my
saving grace.

I am your lullaby, you are my peekaboo.
I am your good-night kiss, you are my
I love you.
