Honoring those nominated and awarded at PCL's annual Team Member Appreciation Banquet!

Our annual Team Member Appreciation Banquet is when we all get together to celebrate those who went above and beyond to reach our mission to ‘expand the horizons and enhance the quality of life of all those we support’ throughout 2018. We had a wonderful time honoring team members who help make PCL a great provider of Person Centered Services and a great place to work.

The evening was full of community, entertainment, celebrating each other, good food, heartfelt tributes, and fun. We heard from our fearless leaders and listened to stories of those who were nominated and awarded.

Each year, we have three special awards: George Grabenhorst, Al Rutherford Horizon, and the Pat Farley Memorial award that are given to a group, community member, or team who have gone above and beyond. This year's winners are:
The George Grabenhorst Award is in memory of our longtime friend and supporter. George began volunteering for PCL in 1990 when his wife, Jeannie, began working for the agency. He became a very big part of PCL’s mission and fundraising efforts. George donated his time and financial resources to PCL and the people we serve. However, the best gift that George gave was himself. He took the time to get to know the people PCL supported. His wife, Jeannie, is now retired and dedicates a lot of her time to George’s desire to keep the Grabenhorst legacy of service alive. In many ways, this award has become the Grabenhorst Award to honor the commitment of both George and Jeannie to the PCL mission. This year the award was given to:

Joe Lawless and the Monmouth Dutch Brothers team
Joe Lawless and his Dutch Brothers teams have been strong partners with PCL for years. Joe has been a generous sponsor and very vocal and public advocate for our mission and the people we support.

The Al Rutherford Horizon Award was developed to recognize individuals who exhibit a long-term commitment to bringing the PCL mission to life. Al was a long time friend of PCL and a tireless champion and advocate of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This award recognizes a team member, regardless of their position, whose actions have improved the lives of those we serve. This years winner was:

Jestin's Support Team
For supporting Jestin in navigating fatherhood, helping him access resources in his Community and giving him the support he needs to be a great dad!

Willow Dickerson- Service Team Coordinator, Jackie Zuniga- CBHS rep, Becca Wold, Nick Harrington, Larry Cochran, Malissa Kanczula, Alexis Garcia, Lawrence Rotundi

The next award given was the Pat Farley Memorial Award. The recipient of this award has demonstrated, with consistency, the practice of bringing joy and purpose to people's lives. This memorial award is dedicated to Pat Farley's outstanding personal quality of being able to face and overcome challenges with new ideas, undaunted enthusiasm, and joyful approach to life, and is awarded to those deserving who live in service to others as Pat did. The winner of this award was:

Candace Vullo - STC, Tiana Keener- CBHS team member, Cecilia Cervantes, Nick Goodrich, Shaylee Arnaz, Velma Harris, Erin McCreery, Heather Cropper, Bryson Chambers, Diana Hernandez, Randy Najera, Michael Pahle, Caitlin Green, Neni Lemusu

The Team Member Playbook All-Stars were chosen from the Staff of the Month and members of Leadership and best exemplify each one of our Playbook values. Which are:

Levity - A belief that we are at our best when we work hard and have fun together.

Humility - Promotes the idea of group success over personal advancement.

Integrity - Performing the task at hand and interacting with others while using PCL’s Ethical Guidelines to guide your actions - even when no one is watching.

Abundance Mentality - Believes that there are enough resources and opportunities for everyone to have enough.

Tenacity - Devotion to purpose.

To pick these winners, a company-wide poll, consisting of those nominated for Staff of the Month, was taken and these people were voted on by their peers. Jessica Hoffman
Jessica works diligently to ensure that payroll is done correctly. She responds to team members questions in a kind and timely manner. Jessica responds to unemployment claims to ensure quick responses and follow through. Her management of the claims has resulted in a considerable saving to PCL. Jessica also helps with staffing and continues to nurture the many meaningful relationships she has with the people we support. Thank you Jessica for your continued commitment to the people PCL serves!
Randy Cunningham
Randy is a great example of providing “mutual respect, ethical treatment, and understanding.” Last year Randy was called upon to help mentor two people we support that were expecting a baby. Randy truly believed that with the right supports, these two could be great parents. Randy committed to providing those supports by building a relationship of trust with the new parents. This resulted in Randy being the go to person whenever there was a need, because they both trusted him enough to call him when they had questions or needed help. Thank you Randy!

Here at PCL celebration takes place all year long. Every month, team members are nominated for Staff of the Month. These employees are the ones who go out of their way each and every day to help the people we support lead great lives. This annual event gives us a chance to celebrate them one more time.
