Congratulations to
Bella Houser and Jennifer Bisek!

Bella and Jennifer are PCL's first Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to receive Specialized Certification from the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP). Furthermore, they are the first two certified DSP Specialists in the whole state of Oregon, this is the highest level of certification awarded by NADSP! Bella and Jennifer worked long and hard on their portfolios and they have both earned their Specialist Certification in the area of Inclusion.

The NADSP is a national non-profit whose mission is to elevate the status of direct support professionals by improving practice standards; promoting system reform; and advancing their knowledge, skills, and values. Their vision is a world with a highly qualified and professional direct support workforce that partners with, supports and empowers people with disabilities to lead a life of their choosing.

The NADSP review team had high praise for both Jennifer and Bella’s portfolios by saying,

“Her work samples showed initiative, creativity, organization, empathy, and intentional problem solving to assist persons serviced DSP’s, and the community.” Jennifer has recently taken on the job of Tapestry Coordinator and has been thriving in that new role.
“Ms. Houser’s deep understanding of inclusion is evident in her portfolio submission. She has an obvious care for, and understanding of, the people she supports, and it shows on every statement within.” Bella has made a huge impact in the lives of the people she supports and the families she interacts with.
Congratulations Jennifer and Bella. What an amazing accomplishment.
