Welcome to the Oxford City Amnesty group's first quarterly newsletter sent via Mailchimp. Our volunteer group exists to promote actions for Amnesty International. This newsletter features upcoming events and meetings as well as information on group issues. Enjoy!
The Amnesty UK annual general meeting was held in Nottingham on 9th and 10th April and was attended by five members of the Oxford City group. Our members presented a summary from the AGM at the April general meeting. As well as inspiring campaigners, AGM highlights included: Focus on Syria and refugees (see above photo), defending the UK Human Rights Act, an update of My Body My Rights campaign, and new electronic and remote voting for AiUK members. The AGM decisions can be viewed here.
Local Oxford band The Epstein put on a gig at the Bullingdon on 7 April with proceeds going to Amnesty International, raising £700! Big thank you to The Epstein and our group volunteers who made the night a great success!
