Presidential Address:
I can’t believe how quickly the last year has flown by! It feels like only yesterday when I was awarded the opportunity to serve as your President. There may have been a few bumps and detours from the original plan along the way, but I would like to thank the board and committee members for their hard work and dedication throughout the year and for keeping the WSRT on track.
The board has had a very busy and productive year! The Finance Committee successfully transferred our account to Blue Federal Credit Union. This will provide banking convenience throughout the state and additional financial benefits. The Bylaws Committee updated the policies and procedures manual to include the Conference Chair position and provide clarity and consistency on the board member duties, ASRT Delegate eligibility requirements, and Finance Committee audits. An online election system was implemented this year as well. Not only has the system saved the WSRT on postage costs, it has also shown a 5% increase in returned ballots, compared to last year’s election, with a few weeks left to vote still.
Danielle and I served as the Wyoming delegates at this year’s ASRT House of Delegates meeting in June. Due to the pandemic, the meeting was moved to a virtual setting and the only item of business included the election of the Speaker and Vice Speaker of the House. Our ASRT Student Leadership Development Program recipients, Megan Peterson and Chenoa Shkoza, will also have an opportunity to attend next year’s HOD meeting in Reno, Nevada as their educational and leadership events were cancelled as well.
Although we would love to gather with all of the technologists throughout the state for the upcoming annual conference, the board has decided to move it to a virtual platform in order to follow mandated rules and remain safe. Danielle has done a great job of transitioning the conference to a one day (September 26) online event that will offer continuing education credit with a variety of speakers and topics. Continue to check the webpage for updated information and registration details.
As a reminder to all of the recent graduates, make sure you take advantage of the Graduate Membership which offers a free one-year membership as a gift from the WSRT as a way to celebrate your achievements. I hope to see your continued involvement in our society!
Thank you again for allowing me to promote, progress, and protect our society as your President. It has been an honor and quite the learning experience! This opportunity has allowed me to gain an increased understanding and appreciation for our field. To finally wrap things up, I encourage you all to become involved and continue to advocate and advance our profession.
Stay safe and healthy and “see” you in September!
All the best!
Kacee Hansen, B.S., R.T.(R)

President-Elect Platform:
What an interesting and scary year it has been! The pandemic has certainly changed a lot for us, but I am excited to be this year’s president and to face the oncoming challenges of the position. We go into this profession to help others in times of need and as WSRT president, I would like to help those that have had major job changes due to COVID-19. As my presidential platform, I am going to investigate a job bank and job search resources to help our members and facilities that may have lost jobs to COVID-19 or even those new students who have graduated in this uncertain time. I look forward to serving the WSRT and its members.
Courtney Keahey R.T.(R)

Education for Students:
Applications are now closed for all grants, scholarships, and paper and exhibit competitions. Winners will be announced at the annual conference (need not be present to win).
The ASRT announced that it will not be accepting applications for a 2021 Student Leadership Development Program cohort. Due to the cancelation of the 2020 onsite Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting directly impacting the 2020 SLDP participants, the ASRT Board of Directors has extended an invitation to the 2020 SLDP cohort to attend the 2021 meeting in Reno, Nevada. The next application process will take place in 2021 for the selection of a 2022 cohort.
The ASRT Foundation and the ARRT have partnered to offer Advancing Your Profession: Education and Professional Growth Grants. At least one recipient per active ASRT affiliate society will receive up to $500 as reimbursement for the cost of: continuing education products, educational conferences or products, ARRT primary or secondary certification, affiliate membership dues, or first-time ASRT membership dues. Applicants are required to submit a short essay answering the question, "How does acquiring and maintaining certification improve patient care?" Applications must be submitted by August 17.

ASRT Life Membership Announcement:
The WSRT would like to congratulate the newest ASRT Life Member Linda Holden, M.S., R.T.(R)(QM), FASRT! Linda is highly regarded in the radiologic technologist community. In her imaging career, Linda has had the opportunity to be a staff technologist, a sonographer, educator, program director, and administrator. She has been given the opportunity to work not only in Wyoming but in Colorado, Nebraska, and Germany. She also implemented the first sonography program in Wyoming. She served on the ASRT Board of Directors for seven years where she held the positions of Speaker and Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates, President, and Board Chair. She has been a keynote speaker and presented lectures at radiologic science conferences across the country.
In addition to her volunteering at the ASRT, she authored a peer-reviewed article for "The ASRT Radiologic Technologist" scientific journal.
The Wyoming Society of Radiologic Technologists honored her twice with the Mallinckrodt Award of Excellence and three times with the Liz Escobedo Award of Excellence. She was named Educator of the Year by the Association of Collegiate Educators in Radiologic Technology and elevated to ASRT Fellow in 2008. She is a life member of the Wyoming and Colorado Societies of Radiologic Technologists.
After retirement, Linda in 2019 served as secretary for two state senate committees while the legislature was in session and she volunteered at the VA Hospital and Meals on Wheels of Cheyenne until COVID-19 discontinued volunteering.
Life Members are active ASRT members who have maintained continuous membership for at least 30 years and have participated in a wide range of volunteer activities that demonstrate dedication to the ASRT and the radiologic technology profession.

Wyoming State Board of
Radiologic Technologists Examiners
The Wyoming State Board of Radiologic Technologists Examiners (WBRTE) would like to remind all members to please renew your Wyoming State License on time! They mail out reminders no later than 30 days prior to the license expiration date---but need correct contact information and for technologists to renew on time. This is YOUR responsibility as a licensed professional. FAILURE TO RECEIVE NOTICE FOR RENEWAL OF LICENSE FROM THE BOARD DOES NOT EXCUSE A LICENSEE FROM THE REQUIREMENT FOR RENEWAL!
The board can be notified of any changes by email, written letter, or phone. Their web address is http://plboards.state.wy.us/radiology/index.asp where all information can be found pertaining to licensure and additional contact information.
All board members of the WBRTE have been re-appointed by Governor Mark Gordon for this term, and the board is currently reviewing their rules.
