Supporting students in achieving academic excellence starts in the neighborhoods where students live. In partnership with Montgomery Public Schools, the Montgomery Education Foundation has developed the WE C.A.N. Network which offers the space for Montgomery citizens to share their expectations, concerns and resources with our school leaders and neighborhood leadership. Neighborhood and school leadership also have the opportunity share their goals, challenges, progress and needs with the local community.
The We C.A.N. Network kicked off with its first Network Night event at Lanier High School this month. Those in attendance included parents, educators, school leaders, business owners, clergy, and civic leaders who discussed topics including early childhood resources and education, building bridges across neighborhoods, after school opportunities for youth, and how churches and clergy can support our schools. Many community members left the event with connections for scholarships, tutoring, job opportunities, and more! Their work to build and support more opportunities for Montgomery public schools’ students, teachers, and leaders ultimately means our whole community succeeds.
All Network Night events happen from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with FREE childcare and FREE dinner. Up next? Southlawn Elementary. Stay tuned for more details.
Together WE will:
