Opportunities

USGS and NIWR have announced the annual Request for Proposals for the National Competitive Grants (104G) program. The  submission procedures have changed from previous years, and now involve a pre-proposal round. 
To apply as a Minnesota investigator, prepare a pre-proposal not exceeding four pages as described in the RFP, and send it as an email attachment in pdf format to cheryel@umn.edu by 4pm CST on Wednesday, February 15. The pre-proposal does not require a budget.  Investigators invited to submit a full proposal will be required to submit the complete proposal package by June 1, 2017.


Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy and Water Systems  (INFEWS)
The overarching goal of INFEWS is to catalyze well-integrated interdisciplinary and convergent research to transform scientific understanding of the  food, energy, and water nexus (integrating all three components rather than addressing them separately), in order to improve system function and management, address system stress, increase resilience, and ensure sustainability. Full proposals due March 6, 2017

Water Economics and Policy: Special Issue on Game Theory and Water Resource Management
This special issue is dedicated to research on theoretical analysis and application of game theory concerning to problems in managing water resources. We welcome both conceptual and empirical contributions regardless of whether it relates to regional, national or international water resources problems. Submission deadline: January 30, 2017.

USDA ThinkWater Fellowship
The 2017 USDA ThinkWater Fellowship is designed to develop the systems thinking capacity of professionals in water education, extension, and outreach from strategic organizations, states, regions, and American Indian nations across the country. Fellowship applications are due February 17.
