1 - 03/14 Dr. Adderly from the SC Governor's School and a special performance by SC Gov School students.
Dr. Adderley has an extensive background in accreditation, curriculum and instruction, faculty development, and general education reform. He has served as an accreditation evaluator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC), and the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Throughout his career, he has restructured music programs and academic units with cutting-edge strategies that have increased enrollment, improved learning outcomes, and brought them back to positions of stability while, at the same time, aggressively pursuing new degree programs and partnerships.

An accomplished composer and music educator, Dr. Adderley enjoys a multifaceted career and maintains an active schedule of artistic engagements throughout the United States and abroad. He has earned numerous accolades, including winning the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s annual composer search for his Symphony no.1 and being selected as Composer of the Year by the South Carolina Music Teachers Association for his Suite for Young Voices. His compositions for various musical media include works in virtually every idiom and include a considerable amount of commissioned works. His original music is published by Grand Mesa and TRN Music Publishers.

6 - Rotary Foundation Challenge Match

To encourage giving to The Rotary Foundation and recognize club members who give, the Rotary Club of Greenville will match Rotary Foundation donations between February 23 and April 30 for club members who give at least $100. Donations will be matched up to 500 points. Wait, there’s more. District Governor Joyce Morin also is having a Foundation Challenge Match during this same time so it may be possible to double the Foundation points for your donation. This means a club member can become a Paul Harris Fellow or Multiple Paul Harris Fellow much more quickly!
For example, a donation to Annual Fund – SHARE of $100 would earn the donor 100 Recognition Points. The club would match those points, and so would District Governor Joyce (and some of her friends). Thus, the donor possibly could earn 300 Recognition Points for that $100 donation. A few guidelines: Rotary International requires that a minimum of 100 Recognition Points be transferred to a Rotarian, and therefore gifts of less than $100 cannot be matched. Also, Major Donors and Paul Harris Fellows +8 have reached the maximum in points that can be earned through a transfer from another donor.
Look for details soon on District Governor Joyce Morin’s Foundation Challenge. By giving to The Rotary Foundation, you are changing lives in countries such as Haiti and Honduras, and you’re changing lives right here at home in Greenville.
7 - Discover Rotary

Discover Rotary is available on 3/21 via Zoom at 5:30PM.

Invite a potential member to attend one of these informative meetings.  Register here. Once they have attended Discover Rotary you will be on your way to earning your "3"!

Do you recall last month it was announced that Fabian Unterzaucher received the Upstate Hotelier of the Year Award from the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association?
Well, never one to settle, Fabian was recognized AGAIN recently by the restaurant and lodging association at a statewide ceremony held in Charleston, but this time he was recognized as Hotelier of the Year for the ENTIRE state of South Carolina. So it is safe to say, from the South Carolina Mountains to the South Carolina sea, there is no better hotelier than our very own fellow Rotarian, Fabian Unterzaucher with the Westin Poinsett. Congrats, Fabian.

And a big shout out to a couple Rotarians recently recognized as Greenville’s 50 Most Influential by the Greenville Business Magazine. Congrats to Stacey Mills and Scott Powell.
  • Stacey is the Executive Director of REEM (Greenville Racial and Equity Mobility Commission) and also serves a senior paster to this historic Mountain View Baptist Church. In the coming year, he plans to increase awareness for REEM’s work in the community related to its five strategic priorities. Rotarian Mills also serves as chairman of the Urban League of the Upstate Board of Directors and is involved in United Way initiatives.
  • Besides being a past president of this Club, Scott Powell is the current president of Craig Gaulden Davis Architecture, a regional architecture and interior design firm that recently celebrated 65 years of practice. The award-winning firm has changed the landscape of Greenville by designing significant projects including the Greenville County Museum of Art, the Peace Center, and the Hughes Main Library. Rotarian Powell joined the firm in 1993 and has led the K12 education studio for over 20 years.
